Taj Gibson contributed $20,000 to a GoFundMe account made to support the daughter ofย Chynna-Ann Battle, who was shot dead inย Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
Battle, 21, and 29-year-old Shaqwanda Staley died in the crossfire of gun shots on July 12. Battle left behind her three-year-old daughter, Amelia.ย
"Everything she did revolved around making sure her daughter was good," Jada Kimmia wrote of Battle on the GoFundMe page she created. "Amelia may not remember all the memories she and her mother made being that she is so young. What these cowards done to Chynna was cruel and reckless. Our family has set up this fund to assist with the day to day needs for Chynna Ann's daughter."
Gibson, who was born in Brooklyn, signed a two-year, $28 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this month. The 32-year-old forward brought Kimmia close to her $30,000 goal with his sizable pledge.
