Tampa Bay Rays Need Jimmy Morris Magic

The Tampa Bay Rays need Jimmy Morris or maybe the Movie magic “The Rookie” Jimmy Morris brings. If you don’t know Jimmy Morris he is the guy featured in the Disney Movie 'The Rookie', who briefly pitched for the Tampa Bays Rays in 1999 and 2000.  The Rays were the most magical team in Major League Baseball in 2008 and for 09 they need some magic back.

The 2009 Rays are only 3.5 games out in the AL Wild Card after making the Cinderella run in 2008 all the way to the World Series. The Rays need a little Magic, Mojo, Spark, or Electricity to get them going and get them back into the Playoffs.

The Rays are a team on the rise and are very dangerous ball club if they can find a way in the final 29 games or so to make a run. Out of the 29 games left they play three Games vs. the Rangers, six Games vs. the Red Soxs, and seven Games vs. the Yankees and can make up some ground.  This is do or die time for the Rays as every game is playoff important for the Rays to make the post season two years in a row.

The Rays need to make the push to keep the fans engaged as they have slowly been bringing back the fans to watch the team. The Rays are a newer franchise in MLB and started in 1998 with 30,000 fans per night coming to the games. The team was not really competitive and the attendance bottomed out in 2002 and 2003, with only 13,000 fans per night.

Based on some good drafting, great trades and some key pick ups the Rays have starting winning and built the fan following to 24,000 fans per game in 2009 after the World Series run.

Come on Rays lets not make 2008 a fluke and give the fans one more year of October joy and excitement.
