Earl Clark, Nets Agree to New Contract: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction
The Brooklyn Nets are firmly locked into the Eastern Conference playoff race, and they attempted to strengthen their position Sunday, agreeing on a two-year deal with power forward Earl Clark, per Shams Charania of RealGM.com.
Brooklyn originally signed the 27-year-old to a 10-day contract on March 27. As Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News reported, the Nets were faced with a decision as to what to do with Clark:
In five games with the Nets, Clark is averaging 4.4 points on 34.6 percent shooting and 3.4 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per night. He has become a solid member of the team's rotation.
This move won't send shock waves throughout the league by any means, but the Nets are only a half-game ahead of the eighth-seeded Boston Celtics and 1.5 games ahead of the ninth-place Indiana Pacers.
Signing Clark might be just enough to put Brooklyn over the top with regard to a postseason place. ย
