Jerry Jones' Gleeful Victory Smile Terrifies the Nation

Dan CarsonSep 29, 2014

The Dallas Cowboys humiliated the New Orleans Saints 38-17 Sunday night, wrapping up one of the more unwatchable prime-time football games in recent memory.

Dallas dominated from the get-go, stuffing the ball down New Orleans' gullet with the run game and finding open receivers in the middle of the field. Save for a miniature Drew Brees comeback in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys had their way with the Saints in nearly every phase of the game.

No play better illustrated the kind of night the Cowboys were having than a 21-yard Tony Romo scramble in the third quarter. Romo dropped back, saw man coverage and ran for a country mile, picking up an easy first down.

Romo's run elicited all manner of joy in the Dallas fanbase, but no one—no one—took more terrifying satisfaction in the sight than Jerry Jones.

Up in the rarefied air of his volcano lair/owner's box, the Cowboys owner practically slavered at the mouth as Romo truffle-trotted his way down the field.

BusinessInsider.com's Cork Gaines crafted a GIF of Jones' gleeful grin. All that's missing from this tableau is a hairless Sphynx cat for Jones to pet.

Naturally, the sight of Jones experiencing such depths of happiness didn't sit well with the Internet.

Deal with it, America. The Cowboys are back, and you're going to be seeing a lot more of Jones' smirk invading your television screen.

Or the Saints are the football equivalent of cold, hot dog water and Dallas' carriage will turn back into a pumpkin next week against a much stingier Houston Texans defense.

In any case, the world saw Jones at the zenith of ecstasy Sunday night, and it shuddered.
