While Kate Upton might be the reason you pay attention to the commercials on television, the people at 2K Sports have done a remarkable job of drumming up interest in their MLB 2K12 series by giving fans the chance to win $1 million by throwing a perfect game.

As a twist to the competition, instead of just being the first person to throw a perfect game, an algorithm was created to rank the eight best perfect games for players. They would be thrown together to determine the champion.

The event has already been taped and will air later this month on national television, so if you don't want to know what happens, avoid the spoilers section of this article.

When: Thursday, May 24 at 11:30 p.m. EST

Watch: Spike TV

Host: Geoff Keighley

Special Appearances: Kate Upton, Harold Reynolds

FINALISTS PERFECT GAME PITCHER (TEAM)
Charlie Bates  Danny Duffy (Kansas City Royals)
Walter Novack  Hector Noesi (Seattle Mariners)
Chris Gilmore  Kyle Drabek (Toronto Blue Jays)
Bob Romanowksi  Hector Noesi (Seattle Mariners)
Matthew Lein  Brian Matusz (Baltimore Orioles)
Kyle Cibrario  Kyle Drabek (Toronto Blue Jays)
William Huff  Liam Hendriks (Minnesota Twins)
Sean Jaquith  Hector Noesi (Seattle Mariners)

I think what we can surmise from this list is that Hector Noesi is a virtual baseball simulation god.

Chris Gilmore

The spunky lad made it through the single-elimination tournament using his brains and a keen trigger finger to knock Charlie Bates out in the championship game.

It might not sound like an amazing feat on its own, but you have to factor in that he was playing for the right to have Miss Kate Upton hand him a big check. That kind of pressure would undo a lesser man.

Fortunately for Gilmore, he was able to grind it out by giving 110 percent and not taking any pitches off, while battling when the pressure was at its greatest. He could not be reached for any further cheesy catchphrases.

CONCLUSION

Boys and girls around the world, take notice of what 2K Sports has accomplished with this Perfect Game Challenge.

Whenever someone tells you that playing video games will just make you lazy and have no ambition to do anything, all you have to do is tell those people that you are perfecting your craft so that you can become a millionaire and get handed fat checks by a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.
