Terrell Suggs is a vital member of the Baltimore Ravens' stout defense, but recent reports indicate the powerful linebacker may miss the entire upcoming season because of an injury.

Glenn Younes of of 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore first tweeted of Suggs' misfortune, citing that Vinny Cerrato reported the news.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Suggs was playing a different sport when he tore his Achilles.

Updates:

Suggs finally took to his Twitter page to voice his thoughts on the situation at hand.

Schefter has been updated on how Suggs tore his Achilles and he tweeted the recent news.

Aaron Wilson covers the Ravens for the Carroll County Times, and he tweeted that Suggs suffered the injury in a conditioning test and not by playing basketball.

People are speculating that Suggs will be out for the entire year, but the linebacker doesn't feel that way.

Wilson also tweeted what Suggs had to say about playing this season.

And by December, he meant November. It was typo he corrected right after that tweet

The Baltimore Ravens official Twitter page released a statement about the treatment Suggs will seek.

No matter how much time Suggs misses in the 2012 season, this is a devastating blow to the Ravens.

Offseason workouts are imperative to the success a team has in the upcoming year, and not having a great leader like Suggs able to participate is extremely unfortunate.

In the 2011 season, Suggs recorded 70 total tackles and 14 sacks, and that type of production will be incredibly difficult to replace.

The Ravens did just draft defensive end/outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw, so the depth is OK for Baltimore.

However, a healthy Suggs would have been able to help Upshaw's development much more.
