WWE WrestleMania 28: 6 Better Choices Than Triple H to Face the Undertaker
WWE is no doubt going to hype The Undertaker's match at WrestleMania 28 for months before it actually happens. The question is: Who will he be facing?
Many people are speculating that it will be Triple H for the second year in a row. While I understand that they can put on a good match together, I can't help but feel there are more deserving people who should face The Undertaker.
Whether or not someone beats The Undertaker at Mania is no longer important because just being selected as the opponent brings that person some fame.
The Undertaker said it best to Rikishi when he said, "I'll make ya famous."
Triple H is at a point where he no longer needs to add additional accolades to his resume—he is at a point where he can start giving back by putting the younger guys over.
WWE has plenty of people who would jump at the chance to lose to The Undertaker at WrestleMania because it means they will have one of the highest-profile matches of the night, guaranteed.
Here, I will list six people I feel are more deserving of a shot at The Undertaker.
Sheamus
1 of 6Sheamus is back on the rise in the WWE it would seem. After several weeks of wins on SmackDown and another win over Swagger at TLC, he seems to be on the good side of a new push.
Where this push will lead is anyone's guess since the World Title picture already has Henry, Show and Bryan. Adding a fourth might not be in the WWE's future plans.
What better way to keep the Celtic warrior relevant than to have him engage in a feud with another person who won't be pursuing The Undertaker?
Sheamus is a very talented wrestler and his mic skills are above average to the point where the WWE feels comfortable sending him to talk shows now.
Having him face The Undertaker at Mania and come close to beating him would bring him a little more credibility beyond the WWE titles he has held.
I like Sheamus as a face but with WWE being overrun by face talent these days, I think attacking The Undertaker and starting a feud would be a great way to get him back to being a dominant heel again.
SmackDown needs a heel who is not 500 pounds and can move around the ring well—Sheamus should be that guy.
Check out this video where Taker, Cena and Sheamus faced off in a dark match after the 900th Raw inside a steel cage. The video is shaky because it had to be filmed by a fan, so I hope it is okay.
Wade Barrett
2 of 6There were rumors that after Nexus helped bury The Undertaker during a match with Kane, Barrett would end up facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania.
For whatever reason, that did not happen. Now Barrett is in the middle of a feud with Orton which has seen both men have the advantage at different times.
Barrett will not be fighting Orton forever and unless WWE decides to put him in the hunt for the World title, he needs something to do.
That is why he would be a great choice to feud with The Undertaker going into WrestleMania. Barrett has the size and power to pull off a convincing beatdown on The Undertaker and he has the youth to where he could be in WWE for years to come.
Being one of the future stars of the WWE makes him one of the smart choices since he can benefit from a feud like this and have it actually matter for a long time.
Barrett is good in the ring, but I think even going one-on-one with The Undertaker would elevate his skill to a whole new level. Taker tends to have that effect on people.
CM Punk
3 of 6Punk is climbing the ranks in the WWE and one more way for them to cement that he is a top star is to put him in a match with The Undertaker—maybe even for the WWE title.
I have no doubt that we will never see The Undertaker doing a full-time schedule again, but that doesn't mean he is out of the question for a title win.
Punk and Taker have had some past encounters which makes me think this would be one of the best ideas for an opponent for the dead man.
Punk has proven he is capable of being the top guy in the company, even if the ratings don't reflect that. If the WWE keeps the title on him through Mania, then a match between the two for the belt would be the match of the night for sure.
This would also allow WWE to focus on two main events instead of three, which always seemed weird to me.
Christian
4 of 6Edge and The Undertaker have had some amazing matches in their time. They have fought with ladders, cages and beaten each other black and blue.
Christian is coming back from injury soon and he will be looking for a program to jump into. Why not have him try and take on The Undertaker?
The WWE has shown that it has less faith in Christian as a top star than it did in Edge, but this match could make its mind.
There is no question that Christian is blessed with lots of talent in the ring and this could be the best way to showcase that.
The match would probably have to have some kind of no DQ stipulation to it to make it seem a little more plausible, but that would also add to the excitement of the match.
R-Truth
5 of 6I fought with myself as to whether or not to include Truth on this list, but after thinking about it, I think it is a good idea.
Truth is going to be back soon and hopefully the WWE does not stall his push. If he comes back and they want to keep his image high, then this could be a great way to do it.
Truth is very talented both in the ring and on the mic and has potential to be one of the WWE's next big stars. This would make other people see that as well.
This may not be something everyone sees as a possibility, but did anyone think That Big Boss man was going to beat The Undertaker when he faced him? No.
You don't have to think he will win, but you have to think he deserves to be there in the first place.
Mark Henry
6 of 6Mark Henry has proven one thing to a lot of people over the past year: he should have been a main-event star years ago.
How WWE wasted someone who could literally lay claim to the title "World's Strongest Man" for so long is a mystery to me. Sure, Henry has never been the best in the ring, but neither was King Kong Bundy and he faced Hogan at WrestleMania.
Henry is quite talented for his size and he has been able to perform moves most men his size wouldn't consider. His standing frog splash still amazes me with how high in the air he can get.
Henry is a perfect choice to face Taker since they have a pretty interesting past to begin with. They faced off at WrestleMania 22, but back then Henry was not the top heel in WWE.
Right now, he just may be the best he has ever been and this would be a great way to continue his push.
Well, folks, there you have it. Six people I feel would be better suited to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 28 than Triple H.
Who do you think he should face?
