NFL Week 16 Predictions: Matthew Stafford and More QBs Who Will Win Shootouts
Even at this time of the year, we can still plan on some good shootouts. It also helps that two of these games are in domes.
But more than just shootouts, these are games that will produce strong performances from both quarterbacks. Look for something in the neighborhood of two 300-yard games.
Alas, there can only be one winner. These are the quarterbacks who will emerge victorious.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions) vs. Philip Rivers (San Diego Chargers)
This is the kind of game that screams shootout. Both of these offenses are playing strong football right now, and the defenses aren't reliable enough to keep these teams from scoring a lot of points.
Philip Rivers is showing the form that he showed for most of last season, not turning the ball over and finding open receivers. San Diego is loaded with weapons, even if Vincent Jackson doesn't play or is banged up.
The Chargers also have strong backs, and Detroit doesn't stop the run well.
With all of that being said, Detroit is going to win this game. Matthew Stafford is on a roll this season. He's finally healthy, and he's showing people why he was the No. 1 pick. It helps that he has Calvin Johnson, who no human being can stop.
Stafford will emerge victorious over Rivers in what will be a fantastic battle of quarterbacks.
Prediction: Lions 31, Chargers 23
Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) vs. Matt Ryan (Atlanta Falcons)
The way that these two offenses are going, it's not going to take more than about two or three defensive stops to win this game. These offenses are going to move up and down the field. Each team will score a lot, but the Saints will pull this one out.
At this point, Matt Ryan is not capable of beating a quarterback like Drew Brees in a shootout. Not when he's playing as well as he is now.
Brees has too many weapons for Atlanta to stop. Matt Ryan will move the ball well and put points on the board, but the Saints defense is good enough to make the right amount of big plays.
Prediction: Saints 34, Falcons 24
Tom Brady (New England Patriots) vs. Matt Moore (Miami Dolphins)
Although Miami's quarterback will be Matt Moore and not Chad Henne, this game will be similar to what we saw in Week 1 between these division rivals.
Miami will score a lot of points. It will move the ball well and impress people, or make people wonder just how bad the Patriots defense is. But it won't be anywhere near enough.
Tom Brady is still as good as ever. He can make an average receiver good and a good receiver legendary. The Dolphins are on a nice run, but not against teams like New England. Few teams in the league can outscore the Patriots in New England. Miami is not one of them.
New England's defense isn't a scary unit, but nobody wants any part of Tom Brady in a playoff game.
Prediction: Patriots 37, Dolphins 21.
