Joe Villavisencio: Texas A&M Lineman Tragically Passes After Car Accident
Texas A&M lineman Joe Villavisencio is dead after driving into an 18-wheeler Thursday afternoon while he traveled back to his hometown of Jacksonville, Texas.
The Bryan-College Station Eagle broke the news Thursday that Villavisencio was involved in a accident as he swerved to avoid an object in the middle of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The report maintains that the car wreck took place two miles south of Normangee on F.M. 39. Dallas News reports Villavisencio swerved out of his lane as he tried to avert something that was in the road.
He then swerved back but it was tragically too late, and he hit an 18-wheeler in the southbound lane. Emergency personnel would pronounce him dead when they arrived. The driver of the big rig was not injured in the car accident.
Villavisencio was 22 years old and was an offensive lineman that wore the No. 67 for the Texas A&M Aggies.
The team's website has a biography on the player that played as a backup offensive lineman against Stephen F. Austin, Louisiana Tech, Oklahoma State and Kansas during the 2010 season.
The senior was majoring in radiological health engineering.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to Villavisencio and his family. Words cannot express the kind of loss they must be feeling at this moment.
As of yet, the University has not released an official statement on the passing of one of their own. Every last fan of sport is with the Villavisencio family at the moment as they grieve the loss of their son.
