Texas A&M Football: 7 Players the Aggies Will Miss the Most

Michael TaglientiDec 22, 2011

As the Texas A&M football team prepares for its bowl game with Northwestern there is time to reflect on the seniors who will be leaving the program.

Some of them are members of Mike Sherman's first recruiting class at A&M while others were members of Dennis Franchione's last class.

They have helped take the program from the depths of the Fran era to the highs of a 9-4 Cotton Bowl season in 2011.

The Aggie seniors did not finish out their career like everyone hoped, but they helped set a foundation for success going forward.

This is a look at the top seven players the Aggies will moss going forward after this season.

7. NG Eddie Brown

1 of 7

Eddie Brown has been a rock in the middle of the A&M defense for four years.

He has taken on constant double teams and never complained. He has been a consistent performer at a thankless position.

Brown has been a four-year starter on a defensive line that became on of the best in the country at stopping the run the past two years.

He had a very solid senior season with four tackles for loss and three sacks from his nose guard position.

6. CB Coryell Judie

2 of 7

Injuries destroyed a promising senior season for Coryell Judie.

The all-conference caliber CB was never able to fully heal and get back to 100 percent in 2011.

As a junior, Judie was one of the top kick returners in the nation. As a senior a lingering hamstring injury severely limited him on special teams.

Judie was a very physical corner who excelled at fighting off the blocks during wide receiver screens and forcing tackles for loss. He was extremely effective against spread offenses.

With Judie out to injury, the Aggie secondary struggled throughout 2011.

When healthy, Judie is one of the better corners in the country, and he should end up in the NFL in 2012.

5. CB Terrence Frederick

3 of 7

Terrence Frederick has been a four-year starter at cornerback for the Aggies.

The senior from Katy, TX has been one of the most consistent cover men in the Big 12 over that span.

Frederick has been a very physical player and very good against the run.

You always knew you were going to get a good effort every time out from Frederick. He should be playing on Sundays next fall.

4. DE Tony Jerod-Eddie

4 of 7

Tony Jerod-Eddie was a four-year starter for A&M. During his recruitment, many questioned whether "TJE" would qualify to get into A&M.

A couple of weeks ago Brown graduated from A&M with a bachelors degree he earned in three-and-a-half years.

Brown was a very good defensive end of the Aggies during his four years on campus. He was a consistent force from his defensive end spot in the 3-4.

He is yet another member of this senior class who should expect to hear his name called during the 2012 NFL draft.

3. WR Jeff Fuller

5 of 7

Jeff Fuller helped prove to the college football world that A&M could develop big time receivers and have an elite passing game.

Fuller was a national top 100 recruit who switched his commitment from Oklahoma to A&M when Mike Sherman was hired as the head coach.

He had an immediate impact as a freshman setting a school record with nine touchdown receptions.

Fuller finishes his career holding the school records for career receptions, career touchdowns and career receiving yards. He set or tied multiple school records during his four-year tenure at A&M.

During an injury-plagued senior campaign, Fuller still demanded that defensive coordinators focus their attention on him.

He is easily one of the greatest wide receivers in the history of Texas A&M football.

2. QB Ryan Tannehill

6 of 7

Ryan Tannehill has a career record of 12-7 as a quarterback. He is an amazing athlete who is the only football player in NCAA history to have both a 200-yard receiving game and a 400-yard passing game in a career.

Tannehill only went 6-6 as a senior but had one of the better seasons for a quarterback in A&M's history. He completed 61 percent of his passes for 3,415 yards and 28 touchdowns.

He will go down as one of the more accurate passers in school history. Tannehill will likely be a top two round selection in the 2012 NFL draft.

The Aggies will miss his strong arm and his play-making abilities.

1. RB Cyrus Gray

7 of 7

Cyrus Gray is everything you want in a college athlete.

He is a phenomenal football player on the field, having rushed for consecutive 1,000 yard seasons.

Off the field he is quiet and humble and represents the school in the correct manner.

Gray shared carries with Christine Michael the past two years yet never complained. He could have transferred when Michael arrived on campus, and it became apparent that Michael was going to start.

Instead he stuck it out and became the best running back at A&M in over a decade. His big play ability, and the way he carried himself on and off the field will be sorely missed.
