What Is Going to Happen with the TNA Knockouts Now That Karen Jarrett Is Gone?
I remember this wrestling network that appears on Thursday. It is a smaller company, mostly comprised of older, more grounded wrestlers who pass the world title back and forth to each other and are slowly integrating young talent into major storylines.
Sure, they are a million miles away from competing with the likes of Vince McMahon, but it has its own little niche in the state of Florida and up the Eastern Coast. And, on occasion, we are given the chance to see women wrestle.
Yes, you heard me. Women wrestle. They are pretty and shapely and have pretty names like Madison and Velvet and even Winter. But they do something other promotions don't do: they wrestle.
Or, at least, they did.
The Knockout's Division was run and commanded over by one Karen Jarrett, who, in her own right, is a pretty, tall and statuesque women who would be a lot more attractive if she knew how to keep her mouth closed. That, my friends, never worked.
Anyway, Jarrett and her husband, Jeff, the founder of TNA Wrestling, were "fired" last week by Sting and will not be on the program for a while. So, what happens to our lovely knockouts?
They aren't divas. They aren't wrestling chicks. They aren't managers. They aren't valets.
They follow the marquee on the door that says wrestling. And who will guide them? How will they develop (in the ring)? Who will challenge the likes of Gail Kim, Winter and Madison Rayne? What will become of my future wife, Velvet Sky (Hey, Christmas is coming, and I like to think big)?
Maybe addition by subtraction is a good thing. Maybe TNA can get back to what it is good at. Maybe we will see more talent come into the brand (where are you, Melina?), and maybe we will see current women finally get a push toward the top (Brooke Tessmacher).
It will be interesting to see how corporate (in the form of Sting) handles this speed bump and gives the fans what they want. Is Traci Brooks in the cards for the future? God, I hope so. Will there be other big names joining the lot? God, I hope so.
Are we excited about the possibilities? God, I think so.
All we need to do now is see if the creative teams think like we do, and everything should be alright.
