LSU vs. Alabama Rematch: Bold National Championship Game Predictions
If you can't wait to see how the National Championship game is going to unfold, just read on. After intently researching the graphs and charts wile consulting the stars and the zodiac signs of all those involved I have deduced how this game is going to unfold.
Defense and Special Teams Outscore Offenses
Defense rules in the National Championship game. These two teams boast some of the best defenses college football has ever seen.
LSU finished second in points allowed this season, and Alabama finished first. That means, just like the first game, the offenses are going to struggle to move the ball, and points are going to be at a premium.
Defense and special teams are going to be the best offense in this game.
Last game, these two threw two interceptions each. The defenses will continue that trend, and at least three picks in this game. One of those interceptions is going to be taken back to the house for a pick-six.
All of this defense is going to lead to plenty of playing time for the punters. In their first meeting, these two teams combined for eight punts. There will be more punts in this one, and one of those punts will be taken back to the house.
Neither of these teams fumbled in the first matchup, and that will not continue. With the big hits and high pressure at least one ball will hit the ground and be recovered, or returned for a touchdown.
The offenses will not be able to match those three touchdowns.
Deja Vu All Over Again
These two evenly matched teams are headed for another overtime. This time, thanks to the added scoring by defense and special teams, they will enter extra time with a higher score. Regulation will end with these two knotted at 17.
The offenses aren't going to find life any easier in overtime. They will remain tied after each team kicks a field goal on their first possession.
Alabama will fail to gain any yards on their second possession, and it will result in a missed field. That was a problem that plagued them in the first matchup—they missed four of them—and it is going to haunt them when it matters the most.
LSU will make their kick on the second possession and win the game.
Honey Badger MVP
Explosive sophomore Tyrann "Honey Badger" Mathieu is going to have himself a game. This electrifying punt returner averaged 16.2 yards per return. He also returned two for touchdowns.
Mathieu will add his third return TD on college football's biggest stage with a jaw dropping return. He will also continually set up LSU with solid field position with his returns, and play a flawless game at corner.
In this defense dominated clash, this will be enough to earn him MVP honors.
