Ric Flair: 10 of the Greatest Interviews & Promos He's Ever Cut
Unless you are from another planet, you know the greatness of Ric Flair.
Not the man who is a mere shell of himself on TNA currently, trying to parade himself as "still great."
I am talking about the 16-time world champion. The man who Gordon Solie used to tell us was born with "a silver spoon in his mouth."
The man who would wrestle across the country and around the world and was responsible for helping the likes of Magnum TA, Ricky Steamboat, Arn Anderson, Ricky Morton and Lex Luger become household names.
And of course, there were others. Flair, with the help of wrestlers like Dusty Rhodes, Ray Stevens, Ken Patera and Wahoo McDaniel, helped a "sport" transcend into an industry.
And Flair's mic work and interviews are the stuff of legend, so much so, he is just as known for his words as his wrestling skill.
Flair was never bigger than the business—he was the business. And his vignettes and interviews have been talked about for over 30 years.
These are some of the best Ric Flair has had to offer over the years.
Stylin' and Profilin'
1 of 10Whether it was on the ring or on the mic, whenever Flair took to the announcers table, everyone looked and took notice.
He was dressed to perfection and let everyone know he was better than the average man.
Flair and Magnum TA
2 of 10One of the better storylines of the mid 1980s was the growth and development of Magnum TA.
The United States Champion was poised to make a serious run at Flair and the NWA World Title. It would have been a certainty that TA would have taken the title and may have changed the course of wrestling history.
Injuries curtailed that storyline.
Flair Goes Nuts
3 of 10One thing about Flair we all loved was he was rarely calm when he talked on the mic.
Whether he was promoting a match, talking about himself or giving the fans what they wanted to hear, he was loud, ambitious and full of energy.
Ric Flair Returns
4 of 10Flair returned to the ring after a brutal attack in 1983 as part of the Starrcade '83 promo.
Harley Race put up $25,000 to anyone who could take Flair out before the match.
Dick Slater tried to collect on the bounty.
This video is still one of the best ever.
Flair on Eric Bischoff
5 of 10The feud between Flair and Eric Bischoff tore at some real drama.
The storyline was really part of a contract dispute and bitter hatred between the two men.
Flair took what was happening to him and his family and brought it to the small screen.
It was awesome.
Ric Flair/Ricky Morton
6 of 10I think this one of my favorite scenes because it is a replay of the same kind of storyline with Rick Steamboat.
While Steamboat and Flair created magic in 1989 again, Morton may have been the second best at bringing out the best on Flair.
Both men wrestled more than a dozen times in Great American Bash venues and each time, Morton sold for Flair like no one else.
Best Strut of All Time
7 of 10He could dance around the ring like few others. This was part of the vignette about Eric Bischoff, which became one of the best storylines of all time in WCW.
Ric Flair and His 4 Horsemen
8 of 10What was even better than a Ric Flair interview on his own was having Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard talk as well.
All three were some of the best interviews of all time and they created an aura when they were on camera.
Fans loved it even if the Horsemen were heels.
Slick Ric
9 of 10No one was ever as slick as "Slick Ric."
Not The Rock.
Not Jericho.
Not Savage.
Not Hogan.
To Be the Man
10 of 10To be "The Man" you had to "Beat the Man."
Enough said.
