WWE Random Thoughts: Vindicated Fans, Jan. 2, John Cena's Quest and More
"
Writer's Note: I've elected to continue this "Random Thoughts" column for two reasons:
1. I am a victim of Pro Wrestling ADD. Its a real problem and should be taken seriously! Ask Vince Russo if you think I'm lying!
2. I have come to the sad realization that I no longer have the ability to write full length, one-topic, coherent articles that contain a beginning, middle and end.
"
Now that we got that out of the way I'd like to see where we all stand on the following issue that I feel needs to be addressed.
No, I'm not talking about promising wrestling prospects, marketing direction, focus, vision, or future of the WWE. I'm definitely not talking about WWE's complete overuse of social media to the point they're starting to come off as that uncool parent desperately trying to be "with it." And for the love of god I am definitely not talking about when/if Brodus Clay will make his debut...re-debut? Whatever, because I honestly don't care.

The real issue is whether we as a group of wrestling fans, aficionados, pundits, and loyalists can ban together and officially change Christmas to the 18th of December...Because I know there is a group out there that on this day was given a gift so profound, so joyous, meaningful, heartfelt, powerful, and vindicating that the only way to describe the gift would be to call it a miracle.
From here on forth I decree that Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, will forever be known in the WWE universe as "The Real Christmas." While that might upset some religious loyalist and maybe even Jesus himself ( I doubt it, he's clearly a Cena guy); in all honesty Christmas came early for the members of the often degraded, misunderstood, but always loyal, diehard wrestling fans.
The ones that sacrifice their time, energy, and spirit to researching, following, watching, debating, and breathing every facet of the wrestling industry. The ones who follow, with passion and fascination, the underworld of Ring of Honor, the numerous promotions in Japan, Mexico, the independent promotions buried deep within the south of the United States, TNA, FCW, and even know the scriptures from the old AWA and WCW days...
All within under a time span of three hours all of their patience, frustration, loyalty, and passion merged together to create a euphoria so potent it spread throughout the veins of every wrestling fan who witnessed the birth of a glorious new generation of wrestling within the WWE.
A company that in its modern incarnation decided that the "E" should be given the spotlight over the "W." A company that for so long turned its back on the young potential of gifted athletes for grandiose, muscle bound, high definition monstrosities. A company that slowly shied away from the entertainment value of a good wrestling product instead referring to sideshow acts, lame movies, over bookings, and a complete lack of development for the future.
Side Note: The WWE, for a while, was neck and neck with the Los Angeles Clippers as the most mismanaged organization in the U.S. Fortunately for both, they each took necessary steps to become legitimate in the short term and potentially the long term by investing in younger talent (Blake Griffin and Daniel Bryan), and giving the reigns of their respective organizations to proven commodities that are in the prime of their careers (Chris Paul and CM Punk).
The WWE has taken its rightful, much needed steps toward a motto that many have always believed, but WWE had seemed to forget...
..."Wrestling Matters."
On that night CM Punk not only successfully defended his WWE title, but the night also saw both Daniel Bryan and Zack Ryder capture titles. With CM Punk now reigning as WWE champion for the foreseeable future and Daniel Bryan as World Heavyweight Champion the WWE has, for right now, written a love letter to its fans.
And I would like to honestly, truly, all joking aside say to all of you that follow your undying passion for the wrestling industry: I'm extremely happy for you, and the direction of the WWE.
And now for some random thoughts...
Random Thought No. 1
I've already got this whole "It Begins" promo thing figured out. It's really not that hard...
OK. I actually don't have a freaking clue what this thing is all about, but that's the charm and intrigue of the whole thing. Is it Jericho? Is it the Undertaker and his wife? Is it Shane-O-Mac and Stephanie McMahon? Is it Kharma and her baby? Is it one of Johnny L's "Social Experiments"?
Whatever it is I'm pretty positive that if it's not "the savior" Chris Jericho or the Undertaker (who probably won't even wrestle upon his return until WrestleMania...so really, what's the point?) that this place is going to be lit up like a Christmas tree with heavily opinionated articles proclaiming the WWE has let their spirits down again. Which is always fun for everyone involved.

If a hardcore fan of ROH tells me I'm a mainstream loving lemming, who blindly follows what WWE tells me is wrestling, and then proceeds to end his anti WWE rant with:
"And if you're not down with ROH, I've got two words for ya!"
Is that hypocrisy?

I took some flack (more like had hand grenades shoved in my mouth after the pin was pulled) for awarding John Morrison the "Gullo" for Worst Wrestler of the Year. His fans undying passion for this man made my heart grown three sizes more that I almost rescinded the award, but then I went and watched some Morrison promos and jobber matches and felt completely vindicated.
However, I must stand up and applaud the loyalty his fans have. Perhaps one day he may return and fulfill his prophecy as Shaman of Sexy.

I'm not exactly sold on how the whole World Heavyweight Championship scenario played out at TLC. The match between the Big Show and Mark Henry looked liked something me and my friends used to videotape when my parents left for work during our middle school days.
However, I came to find out that Mark Henry was actually injured (groin injury) and couldn't carry the belt anymore. So the WWE gave Big Show his "Lifetime Achievement" championship...for roughly 3 minutes. What kind of award is that?
Daniel Bryan swooping in and cashing his MITB contract was something that had to be done not only in terms of how real life situations work, but to invest in the future of the company.
Bryan might be a hypocrite, but aren't we all? True story example...
My Friend: (upon breaking up with his Girlfriend) I'm not dating anyone else for the foreseeable future. I'm taking some single, me time and getting my life and priorities in order.I 'm talking straight 50 hour work weeks, gym, football, and school. No girls, just me and the guys!
My Girlfriend: My Roommate thinks you're cute.
My Friend: Are you serious bro? She's a ten! Give her my number, FaceBook page, and Twitter handle. I'll set something up for this weekend.
Random Thought No. 5
I knew we'd see a "5 Moves of Doom" from CM Punk eventually. While the move set is nowhere near the "doom" aspect as Cena's is it was still pretty funny to see it in all it's glory. Give it time and a couple of jobbers and come July 2012 it'll be up to par with Cena's and Orton's.
1. The Flying clothesline from the top rope
2. The sweet looking neckbreaker
3. The running high knee into bulldog
4. the Macho Man Elbow Drop
5. The "Go to Sleep"
Game, set, and match Punk. Along with at least six more World Title reigns.

How come no one has created a WWE fantasy league with a scoring system similar to fantasy football, basketball, or baseball. I'm thinking 10 teams, five roster slots, serpentine drafting order, head to head style matchups, and a season that runs from June to WrestleMania...
...I didn't say I was creating it; I was simply asking why no one has done this yet. If someone would like to take the reigns on this project I only ask that I be given proper recognition, a team, and the first overall pick (aka John Cena).
Random Thought No. 7
...Speaking of John Cena.
John Cena and his quest for immortality at WrestleMania has hit an unexpected, but pleasant speed bump. it looks like the monster Kane has some beef with Cena that he neither wants to talk about or fix.
After run ins with Mick Foley and Roddy Piper, Cena now finds himself at the next test he must "pass" in order for him to find himself during a time period where nearly half the universe has turned their back on him. Consider Kane the "Ghost of Christmas Past" at this particular juncture in Cena's quest toward the Rock and WrestleMania.
John must now face the demons that have led him here in human form by choosing a path. Does he defeat Kane and once again anger the millions of people that love the monster? Or does he except the punishment laid before him by Kane who represents all the growing hatred that has built up toward Cena?
Those boos that have been following Cena for a while now take form in the shape of a monster. Cena's path to the showcase of immortals has now been blocked. He has much work to do before he reaches the summit and his showdown with the Rock.
