Green Bay Packers: 5 Players Who Made Biggest Contributions in Sunday's Loss
With their first loss of the 2011 NFL season, the Green Bay Packers struggled mightily against the inconsistent Kansas City Chiefs. However, even in defeat, there were some players that made big contributions on the field.
It was a difficult and ugly game to watch at times as the Packers just couldn't seem to get it going offensively or defensively.
Here are the five players that made the biggest contributions in Sunday's loss.
5. Charles Woodson
1 of 5Charles Woodson led the Green Bay Packers defense in tackles on Sunday with 11.
The only problem with that statistic is that Woodson was out of coverage quite a bit to be able to record all those tackles. Sure, some of them came against the run and against screen passes, but he was also getting beat quite frequently in coverage.
Woodson is still one of the better defensive players on this team, and he really needs to step up his game in the coming weeks.
4. Aaron Rodgers
2 of 5It was an extremely difficult day for Aaron Rodgers on Sunday. It was easily his worst game of the season.
Rodgers was under constant pressure all day, and he really had a difficult time dealing with it. He completed under 50 percent of his passes and was unable to find a steady rhythm out on the field.
Even though he was struggling, Rodgers still kept the Green Bay Packers in the game with two fourth-quarter touchdowns. No doubt it was a tough game for Rodgers, but without him, it would have been much worse.
3. Tramon Williams
3 of 5There were two plays that really stuck out to me by Tramon Williams on Sunday.
The first play was a red-zone pass from Kyle Orton to Jonathan Baldwin where Williams was able to defend a pass to Baldwin's back shoulder. We've seen Aaron Rodgers abuse teams with this throw all year long, so we know how difficult it is to defend.
The second play was a deep pass from Orton to Baldwin where Williams was able to get his hands on the ball once Baldwin caught it and knock it loose.
Both plays showed that Williams is still one of the top cover cornerbacks in the league.
2. Tim Masthay
4 of 5You know it was a bad week when your team's punter made the second-biggest contribution.
However, Masthay was key in keeping the Green Bay Packers in the game. He averaged over 53 yards per punt, had three punts that landed inside the 20-yard line and his 71-yard punt pinned the Kansas City Chiefs back when it appeared they would have great field position.
Overall, a quality game from an underrated player.
1. Randall Cobb
5 of 5With Greg Jennings injured, everyone knew that someone would need to step up, but no one knew who that was going to be.
While no single player really filled the void left by Jennings, Randall Cobb did a pretty nice job. With every other Packers' receiver dropping passes or getting penalties called on them, Cobb did none of that.
He had four receptions, which led the team, for 53 yards. He added another 68 yards in kick returns.
Sure, hose numbers aren't incredible, but he was the best player on the field for the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
