WWE Taboo Tuesday 2004: Milwaukee Gets the First Ever "Fan Voting" Event
WWE is bringing a PPV back to Wisconsin! In two months, the Elimination Chamber event is going to make its way to the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. Needless to say, I already have my great seats for the event.
To mark such a huge show coming to Wisconsin, I have decided to take a look back at the last WWE PPV held in the Dairy State. Yes, I was there as well. Second row on the floor!
Note: I will not be covering the tag team title match of the evening.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Chris Jericho vs. Shelton Benjamin for the Intercontinental Championship
This was a great way to start the show. We knew Jericho was going to defend his title, but we had no idea who his opponent would be. The fans in Milwaukee sure wanted Shelton to win the fan voting, and he sure did!
They had a nice match. They went back and forth, before Mr. Benjamin got the surprise victory. I know I was shocked by the move. Looking back, it made a ton of sense. At the time, I was not a big Shelton fan and wasn't sold on him. Seven years later, here we are...
Trish Stratus Retained Her Title in a Battle Royal
This match also included Stacy Keibler, Gail Kim, Nidia, Jazz, Molly Holly and Victoria. The fans voted on what attire the divas would wear. The winner was "school girl outfits."
A lot of fans were cheering for Stacy to win this one, but it was not meant to be. Trish kept her belt in a pretty good match.
Snitsky Defeated Kane in a Chain Match
This was during the entire Lita/Kane/Matt Hardy story line. I am not even going to recap the mess that occurred on Raw during 2004 with these folks.
Either way, none of it mattered. Snitsky beat Kane to the absolute shock of fans, and he then put him on the shelf for a few months with a beat down after the match. It was a bad match, but the story afterwards was much better than anything leading up to the event.
Eugene Defeated Eric Bischoff in a "Loser Must Get His Head Shaved" Match
This was fun. I was a fan of Eugene. I was a fan of Mr. Bischoff. You add on a pretty big stipulation, and you have the crowd ready to be entertained. Eugene won the match, but the segment was far from over.
After The Coach tried to fix the fan voting, Mr. McMahon got involved. His reaction down the entrance way was huge. Of course, he then embarrassed Coachman, while Bischoff got a little haircut. Awesome!
Christy vs. Carmella in a Pillow Fight
This was built on the WWE Diva Search from 2004. Honestly, I had no problem with this. It was a short match, and the segment served its purpose. Christy won. Zero complaints from me!
Triple H Defeated Shawn Michaels to Retain the World Championship
As most may know, Shawn Michaels went into this event with an injured knee. He should have left for surgery, but the fans had other ideas. He was voted into the match, and there was no going back now.
Shawn had to perform, and he did just that. What a match these two had! The crowd really thought they were going to see the miracle win by HBK on this night! Sadly, Edge had other plans.
He ran into the ring and speared Michaels. The ref was distracted, but it didn't matter. Triple H took the easy victory a minute later, and he walked out with his gold. Good match with an amazing ending!
Randy Orton vs. Ric Flair in a Steel Cage
Orton was turned face a few weeks earlier, but the fans were behind him on this night. It may not have seemed that way, but fans wanted him to beat Flair on this night. Of course, fans voted in the cage option, and it was never in doubt. The structure was hanging above the ring the entire night!
Also of note, the two shook hands after the match. I never understood this conclusion. It surely seemed to tease a face turn for Ric, but the entire story was resolved the following week. Orton won in the final match of the evening, and I enjoyed the show.
The dark match of the show featured Muhammad Hassan. It was very cool to see him wrestle, as he had yet to debut on WWE TV. Sure enough, his promos began airing for his arrival soon after. Finally, I also believe this was the final night of Pat Patterson working for WWE, as he came out to perform a farewell song after the PPV went off the air.
