WWE TLC: Predicting a Night of Tables, Ladders and Chairs
Tonight WWE presents its final pay-per-view of 2011, TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs.
WWE looks to go out with a bang as it has scheduled six matches, four of which have a stipulation of tables, ladders or chairs. One even has all three!
Out of the six matches to be presented, four will have a title on the line.
There's a decent amount of hype going into the show and WWE should be delivering a good PPV here.
Here are the matches and who I think are going to win!
Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett: Tables Match
1 of 6The Barrett Barrage would hit a snag when it ran into the Viper.
We’ve seen the two superstars trade victories before Survivor Series, then at the PPV Barrett’s team defeated Orton’s.
Since then they’ve distracted each other during their matches. At times it cost them their match, but other times it would backfire.
Last week both of them competed in the Beat the Clock Challenge. The wrestler who could beat their opponent the fastest would chose the stipulation for their match.
Orton bested Barrett’s time by a few seconds and chose a table’s match.
Since then we’ve seen Barrett try to put Orton through a table only for the Viper to get the better of the Barrett Barrage.
To send him a message, Orton has put Dolph Ziggler and David Otunga through tables over the past week.
While Wade Barrett likes to say he’s in the head of Randy Orton I think it’s the other way around.
Even this Friday on SmackDown Orton and Zack Ryder defeated Barrett and Ziggler which gave the faces the momentum going into their respective matches.
I don’t think it’ll be enough to defeat Barrett, though.
Wade Barrett needs this victory. If he loses then the Barrett Barrage could be derailed for good.
Orton seems to be putting over the wrestlers he’d been feuding with lately and I think that’ll lead to him going through a table.
Winner: Wade Barrett
Triple H vs. Kevin Nash: Sledgehammer on a Pole Match
2 of 6Okay, it’s not really a sledgehammer on a pole match, but that’s the feeling I got when the match was announced.
This is a ladder match with a sledgehammer hanging above the ring so it might as well be one.
This all started when Nash returned at SummerSlam to screw over CM Punk. He claimed he got a text from someone to do so and that became the big mystery for a month or two as it came from Triple H’s phone.
The Game denied involvement so the questions continued.
Then the big mystery was revealed! The person who texted Kevin Nash was…Kevin Nash.
He texted himself from Triple H’s phone and told himself to attack Punk.
Wow, what a letdown.
Their friendship imploded when Triple H fired Nash and Nash soon attacked him with a sledgehammer.
Since then all we’ve gotten of this feud was Kevin Nash boring us with talk of the past.
I love history, especially when it comes to pro wrestling, but come on.
The majority of WWE’s audience is way too young, or wasn’t even born yet, to know who Bob Backlund and the Kliq were.
Triple H returned this past Monday on Raw and declared that he would win this match because he was “right.”
This is either going to be good and violent or a complete disaster.
With a ladder and a sledgehammer involved this feels like the blow off for the feud.
I don’t see Kevin Nash going anywhere in WWE and having him win this will make no sense.
This match will go to Triple H.
Winner: Triple H
Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder: United States Championship
3 of 6Zack Ryder has been on a role lately.
He has defeated Dolph Ziggler on many occasions but never when it really counted, and that’s when the United States Championship was on the line.
After failing a second time Ryder created an online petition to get himself another shot. The petition garnered thousands of signatures but John Laurinaitis just ignored it.
Ryder finally got his shot when John Cena gave up his spot in the WWE Championship match.
The Long Island Iced Z now has one final chance to win the title.
Zack Ryder is a rare breed in WWE. He has talent, both in the ring and on the mic, and he is over with the crowd. The thing about Ryder is that he got himself over thanks to sites like YouTube and Twitter.
He has had no help from WWE Creative but now that he has already done all the work for them they’re finally taking notice of him.
Dolph Ziggler is a great wrestler who has gone toe-to-toe with CM Punk and Randy Orton over the past month.
He has proven that he can hang with the main event stars.
I think that Ziggler is heading to the main event so that the Ryder Revolution can have the spotlight in the mid-card.
Winner and New Champion: Zack Ryder
Cody Rhodes vs. Booker T: Intercontinental Championship
4 of 6Cody Rhodes is the best Intercontinental Champion WWE has had in a long time.
He has proven to be a great in-ring competitor and has become pretty good on a microphone.
One person who hasn’t been singing the praises of Rhodes is SmackDown commentator Booker T.
Booker doesn’t like the way Rhodes has been acting and thinks he should cut it out and act like a champion.
Rhodes saw that as Booker disrespecting him.
The situation escalated when Rhodes threw some water at the color commentator on Raw. He then attacked him backstage before the two were to have a match during the holiday special of SmackDown.
The champion took it a step further when he attacked Booker last week before SmackDown went on the air. After Booker retaliated, Rhodes wanted it dealt with.
So general manager Teddy Long made this match and put the title on the line as well.
At Tribute to the Troops, Booker cost Rhodes a match against Daniel Bryan and on SmackDown Booker was threatened with suspension if he interfered.
Booker didn’t get involved so the Intercontinental Championship match is still a go.
While it would be cool to see Booker T win the title here I don’t see it happening.
Cody Rhodes will be gaining victory here and his rise to the top will continue.
Winner and Still Champion: Cody Rhodes
Mark Henry vs. Big Show: Chairs Match for the World Championship
5 of 6Can this feud just end already? It’s getting really boring.
With the exception of their PPV matches and the two occasionally getting involved in a tag-team match, all they’ve done is talk.
Talk is boring.
At Survivor Series Big Show finally got some revenge when he smashed Henry’s ankle with a chair. At that point I was like “Nice, this feud is finally heating up.”
I was dead wrong, though. Since then they have once again just talked to each other in the ring.
At one point Big Show beat him with a chair so that was exciting.
We’ve only seen them in the ring together during a match once since Survivor Series and that was a six-man tag-team match at Tribute to the Troops.
Other than that they’ve been facing other people.
For the final build to the match Big Show faced Jack Swagger on SmackDown because Henry said if he could hurt Show then he’d be first in line for a title shot.
Big Show won of course, and then Mark Henry hit Swagger and a cameraman with a chair before leaving.
That’s it? The final build for the World Heavyweight Championship match is the champion hitting a cameraman with a chair.
Big Show has all the momentum right now and WWE is building him up like they’re going to give him the title.
That’s what I fear. If Big Show wins, then his feud will continue for at least another month.
Big Show no doubt deserves one last run with a world title but if it means continuing this boring feud I’d rather see him lose.
I hate to say it, but I think Big Show will finally be winning the title here.
Winner and New Champion: Big Show
CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Miz: TLC Match for the WWE Championship
6 of 6Much like the Punk/Del Rio singles feud, CM Punk has been the highlight of this whole storyline.
Every time he’s been in the ring we were treated to a good match, and every time he had a microphone in his hand we were given great mic work.
Alberto Del Rio continues to be boring so I won’t bore you by writing more about him.
The only other part of this storyline that has any intrigue is the Miz. After falling hard during the Awesome Truth storyline, Miz returned to the main event with a vengeance.
He took out R-Truth the night after Survivor Series and John Morrison the following week.
While this new Miz is interesting and fun to watch at times, I don’t think he’s done anything to deserve being back in the main event picture.
He has a lot to prove after his disastrous match with John Cena in the main event of Wrestlemania 27. I don’t think taking out two superstars and beating Randy Orton by count-out proves anything.
At the same time I’m glad he’s back in the main event picture since the title situation was just CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio.
I think a huge factor in this will be John Laurinaitis.
He doesn’t want Punk to have the title and it’s obvious he set up this match not for the excitement, but to stack the odds against the champion.
I got a feeling we’ll finally see the return of Brodus Clay here. He’ll either cost Punk the title or attack him after he retains it.
I don’t see Del Rio ever being WWE champion again. Both of his reigns were total busts and I doubt WWE will give him the title back anytime soon.
The Miz could very well be winning the title back here but I just don’t see it happening either. He needs to prove that he belongs back in the main picture before he’s given the title back.
CM Punk will be retaining here.
Winner and Still Champion: CM Punk
