Week 15 Fantasy Football: 5 Must-Start Players from Bengals-Rams Matchup
It's finally here, fantasy owners. Playoff time.
This Sunday's NFL schedule is packed full of games that could make or break your entire fantasy season, and while it may not appear to be one of the weekend's most exciting games on paper, Sunday's clash between the 7-5 Cincinnati Bengals and 2-11 St. Louis Rams could hold major fantasy implications.
Here are five Bengals and Rams to look out for this weekend, as they could be in store for some huge performances.
Cedric Benson, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
1 of 5The St. Louis Rams do a lot of things poorly, but no aspect of their game is quite as ugly as their defense against the run.
Just ask Arizona's Beanie Wells, who rushed for 228 yards and a touchdown against the Rams in Week 12.
Cincinnati's Cedric Benson got off to a slow start running the ball this season, but he has turned it on as of late and has to be licking his chops in anticipation of Sunday's matchup.
Look for the Bengal back to have a huge day, easily racking up 100 yards and at least one score on the ground.
Brandon Lloyd, WR, St. Louis Rams
2 of 5While the Rams have struggled to stop the run, the Bengals have had a difficult time shutting down opposing passing attacks.
Since losing cornerback Leon Hall to injury in Week 10, Cincinnati has given up the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing receivers, and they could have their hands full with St. Louis' Brandon Lloyd come Sunday.
Lloyd is undoubtedly the Rams' biggest weapon in the passing game, and he should get enough looks against Cincy's suspect secondary to rack up some impressive numbers.
The Cincinnati Defense
3 of 5Cincinnati's recent struggles against the pass have certainly been concerning, but the Bengals' defense still makes for a solid fantasy play this weekend given their ability to shut down the run.
Though underrated, Cincy's front seven is one of the most dominant in the entire league, and they should be able to stifle Steven Jackson and the rest of the Rams' ground attack without much trouble.
If the Bengals can shut down the run, the Rams will have to turn to their questionable air attack, making them susceptible to turnovers.
Mike Nugent, K, Cincinnati Bengals
4 of 5He hasn't made many headlines, but Cincinnati's Mike Nugent has quietly been one of the NFL's most impressive kickers this season, leading the entire league in field goal percentage.
More importantly for fantasy owners, the second-year Bengal has also had seven double-digit fantasy performances and could very well post an eighth this weekend against the lowly St. Louis D.
As long as Andy Dalton and the Cincinnati offense can set him up as they have all season long, Nugent should be able to put some points on the board.
A.J. Green, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
5 of 5If you have him on your roster, Cincinnati's A.J. Green should be in your fantasy lineup every Sunday, and this week is absolutely no different.
The rookie wideout has proven game in and game out that he has the ability to make huge plays regardless of his opponent, and he should be able to feast on St. Louis come Sunday.
The Rams have only given up an average 208 passing yards per contest, but they have also given up 19 touchdowns through the air.
Green could very well raise that mark to 20, or even 21, this weekend.
