Knicks Rumors: Best Remaining Free Agent Players on New York's Radar
The New York Knicks made a quick impact in free agency with the signing of Tyson Chandler early on. However, despite being linked to several players, the Knicks haven't yet been able to add the final piece to their 2011-12 roster.
With only their mini mid-level exemption of $2.5 million to spend, the Knicks have recently lost out on Jamal Crawford, Shawne Williams and Mo Evans.
The Knicks need to add another piece and the pickings are beginning to get slim.
The focus has shifted to Redd for the Knicks, according to Alan Hahn. Despite injuries derailing his once promising career, Redd can still shoot the ball. Unfortunately for New York, though, the Indiana Pacers are also hot after him and they can trump anything the Knicks will offer.
Troy Murphy
Hahn also reports that Murphy is being targeted by the Knicks. Murphy doesn't offer up much except his shooting anymore. However, if that's what the Knicks are looking for, Murphy can still shoot the three despite being a liability defensively and on the boards.
Travis Outlaw
The New Jersey Nets used their amnesty clause to cut Outlaw, who would be a good fit in New York. He doesn't need the money since the Nets are paying off his contract, meaning he may be willing to accept the Knicks' mini exemption.
Outlaw could give them some decent minutes off the bench, playing the three, but could also play the four against smaller lineups.
Baron Davis
Davis is out for eight to 10 weeks, but the Knicks could still have interest in signing him to have for the stretch run.
