Fantasy Football Week 15: Sleeper Picks for Each Position
Michael Bush had a strong Week 14 with 14 points to lead my sleeper picks last week. Darren Sproles (eight points) and Darrius Heyward-Bey (seven points) added some production as well.
Here are my thoughts on Week 15 sleepers. These are guys that might be available to pick up or might be on your bench in normal circumstances. If you’re in a bind, take a chance on one of these picks.
Rex Grossman, QB
1 of 7Grossman had a 14-point fantasy performance last week against the New England Patriots, and their bottom-tier pass defense. This week he gets another favorable matchup in the New York Giants, and their 29th-ranked pass defense.
Grossman has thrown two TDs in three of his last four contests.
Willis McGahee, RB
2 of 7Despite New England having the league-worst pass defense, the Broncos will stick to their regular formula on Sunday. Heavy doses of McGahee and Tebow on the option.
Meanwhile, the Broncos defense will face its first test in several weeks against Brady, Welker and Gronkowski. Of course, Denver will hope to limit the Pats offense by controlling the clock with the run game.
For McGahee, 80 yards and a touchdown doesn’t seem unrealistic. If he gets 20 carries, that will be a lock.
LeGarrette BLount, RB
3 of 7If they gave fantasy points for awesome hurdles of defenders, Blount would be my No. 1 draft pick. This week, he’s a good option to start against a skidding Cowboys team in a special Saturday night game.
Blount has been one of the most inconsistent fantasy performers of the year, but three of the past four weeks he’s put up over 10 fantasy points.
Also in primetime during a nationally televised game, he’ll be looking for a spectacular hurdle to add to the highlight reel.
Santonio Holmes, WR
4 of 7Holmes has a TD in each of his last three games. It looked as if Mark Sanchez has been targeting him in the red zone as his number one threat.
Plaxico Burress and Dustin Keller used to take more of the red zone targets, but perhaps they have fallen out of favor.
With Philadelphia giving up an average of 20 fantasy points to receivers, it looks like Holmes should get the majority of them Sunday.
Antonio Brown, WR
5 of 7This big play wide receiver is available to pick up in about 30 percent of ESPN standard leagues.
The Steelers are up against the staunch San Francisco defense this week. But, while the Niners have the No. 1 defense against the run, their pass defense has been inconsistent.
Brown has put up double-digit fantasy points in five of the past seven weeks.
Owen Daniels, TE
6 of 7Daniels had a big week last week with seven catches for 100 yards. Perhaps more promising for Week 15 though, is his average of over seven targets per game the past three weeks.
The Texans will be facing the Carolina Panthers, who have a penchant for being involved in high-scoring affairs. Opponents have scored more than 30 points against the Panthers seven times this year.
Arizona Cardinals, D/ST
7 of 7The Cardinals get the Browns this week in what will likely be a low scoring affair for both sides.
The Cardinals are coming off a big win over the 49ers. The Arizona defense has given up 19, 13 and 20 in its last three contests. Meanwhile the Browns are the third best matchup for fantasy defenses, giving up an average of 9.8 points.
In addition, I like the matchup of Patrick Peterson returning punts against the Browns coverage.
