Michigan Football: Check out the Wolverines' Special Uniforms for the Sugar Bowl
With college football comes great tradition. And in most cases, you don't mess with tradition. It's one of the main things that makes the sport unique.
But with the Michigan Wolverines making a BCS bowl game for the first time since 2006, they have decided to mess with the tradition.
The Michigan players and the company Adidas have decided to pair up and create a uniform that they will be wearing against the Virginia Tech Hokies in this year's BCS Sugar Bowl.
“We met with our seniors and showed them some concepts that were proposed by Adidas, and the mock-up is what they chose,” said Michigan coach Brady Hoke in a special news release.
“This is a something the players enjoy, and we thought it would be a nice way to commemorate our appearance in the Sugar Bowl.”
The uniform will feature a winged helmet, and the face-mask will be grey. The pants are the usual maize color, which is about the only thing that is similar to the normal uniforms. The jersey is white and features two blue stripes on the shoulder pads. The numbers across the chest are blue and have a yellow trim on them.
It appears that tradition went out the window when making these uniforms, and the flashiest design possible was the only thing in mind.
Virginia Tech will stick to their regular uniform in this game.
Let's just hope the Wolverines will play better than they will look.
