NBA Fantasy Injury Updates—Week 10
Fantasy NBA has officially reached it’s competitive point this season. With player injuries and risky starts, sometimes you have to debate who to start and who to bench.
No need to procrastinate, I have compiled a list of injury-risked players and whether or not you should start them or bench them on your fantasy team. Listen to these tips and your team is destined to shine amongst all others.
Nene (PF/C, DEN)- Injured/Risky Start
Nene sat out Monday nights game with a stiff neck and has no timeable return as of right now. When healthy, Nene has been able to put up career numbers averaging 14.10 PPG, 7.81 RPG, and 1.52 BPG in 33.1 MPG. I suggest you bench Nene until he can prove that he is 100 percent healthy and ready to continue to put up big numbers.
Steve Nash (PG, PHX)- Injured/ Risky Start
Nash left Monday nights game after the first nine minutes due to back spasms. A note from NBA players that have had back spasms during their career would say that back spasms can occur at any given time during a game, it is an annoying injury that cannot do anything about.
Rest is the only option Steve Nash has and I suggest you bench him until after the New Year. He is one of the most elite fantasy point-guards and should not miss too much time with this minor injury.
Caron Butler (SF, WAS)- Injured
Caron has now missed two games with a sprained left ankle. He was a game-time decision coming into Mondays game and ended up not playing at all. He is questionable for the next upcoming game on Tuesday, but I suggest you bench him until he can prove that his ankle is no longer a problem.
Bench him Tuesday and if he does play, monitor his progress for the next Washington game on Friday against the Celtics.
Zach Randolph (PF, LAC)- Injured
Randolph has put up all-star numbers this season and deserves to start in all formats when healthy, but with a bruised left knee Zach can miss up to two weeks of action. He should be reserved in every fantasy league as of right now until more news is updated on his injury.
A great pick-up in Zach’s place could be Andray Blatche for the Washington Wizards, he has played extremely well as of late.
Corey Maggette (SF, GS)- Injured
Maggette has now missed 13 straight games because of a strained hamstring. Corey is an injury-prone player and this injury is no exception. He is close to a return but as of right now, he should be benched in all fantasy leagues.
When healthy, Corey can produce consistent fantasy numbers for any fantasy team, making him worthy of stashing on your bench until he returns to action.
Mike Miller (SG/SF, MIN)- Injured
Mike Miller suffered a sprained right ankle four games ago and has not stepped on the court ever since. He is questionable for his next start on Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks.
I suggest you bench Miller until he can play 30 plus minutes. Even if he does play on Tuesday, his minutes will be limited because of his injury. Mike Miller is a top 50 fantasy player when healthy and is worth keeping until he can return to his normal form.
Luol Deng (SG/SF, CHI)- Injured
Luol Deng is another injury prone player that should not be relied heavily on to produce night in and night out. He sprained his left ankle and has now missed two games. I suggest you bench Deng for this scoring period in all fantasy formats until he can show you that he is worthy of being start.
Deng is a solid fantasy player when healthy and could produce if the injury bug ever gets out of his system.
Richard Hamilton (SG/SF, DET)- Injured/Risky Start
Hamilton has now missed two games with an injured groin. Monitor his progress before his next game on Wednesday and if he can suit up for the game, start him. Rip is a talented fantasy player that could put up consistent fantasy numbers all across the board. But if his groin injury continues to lag, bench him until he can return to his 30+ minutes per game form.
