NBA Rumors: Jamal Crawford Lands Pacers Offer, Timberwolves' Interest
The New York Knicks really want to land Jamal Crawford, but it looks like their chances at him are slipping away by the minute.
Both the Minnesota Timberwolves and Indiana Pacers are making a late run at the shooting guard, who's been on the market a little longer than expected.
ESPN's Marc Stein reports that the Pacers have offered Crawford a two-year deal worth $10 million that contains an option that could allow him to become a free agent again in 2012.
The Pacers, though, may not be the lead team in the hunt to land Crawford.
Stein also reports that Minnesota wants Crawford to play the 2-guard position next to Ricky Rubio.
With the Knicks only being able to offer Crawford their $2.5 million mid-level exemption, the market for Crawford could barrel down to a competition between Minnesota and Indiana for his services.
Indiana is desperately looking for a 2-guard that can attack and create his own shot, and after their latest attempt to land Memphis' O.J. Mayo seems to have hit another snag, they've turned their attentions to signing Crawford.
Minnesota, on the other hand, would need to waive a veteran to create the necessary cap space for Crawford, but they could easily do that by cutting ties with Luke Ridnour, Brad Miller or Martell Webster.
Crawford remains the best offensive 2-guard on the market, and it may not be long before he finds a new home.
