Tommy Schutt: 5-Star DT Decommits from Penn State, Commits to Ohio State
When the sex scandal that took place in Penn State shook the college football world, we knew it was going to have a huge impact on the university in more than ways than one.
You just knew it was going to tarnish the image of Penn State football, and it may have set the program back for several years. That is already starting to take effect, as some of Penn State's top recruits are switching their commitment and will be playing football elsewhere.
This time it's defensive tackle Tommy Schutt, who is one of the top defensive lineman in this year's recruiting class.
He originally had offers from Florida, Michigan State, Oregon, USC and Wisconsin, among a bunch of other schools. He of course picked Penn State, but after a visit to Ohio State and the circumstances that were going on at Happy Valley, he changed his mind, according to ESPN Chicago.
He is now a Buckeye instead of a Nittany Lion.
This may just be the beginning of recruits that decide to leave Penn State with the ongoing investigation that's going on at the university. Especially with head coach Urban Myer taking over at Ohio State, it makes it that much easier to leave.
Where would you rather be right now if you were a recruit?
Penn State, who is currently going through a sex scandal and has no permanent head coach? Or Ohio State, who has one of the top head coaches in the country and doesn't have nearly as big of a black cloud hanging over them.
For Schutt, the decision may have been easy.
The defensive tackle finished his junior season with 12 sacks and 67 tackles.
This is the first big recruit Urban Meyer has landed at Ohio State, and something tells me it won't be his last.
