Robert Griffin III Heisman Video: Watch Baylor's Star QB Graciously Accept Award
Even if you were the select few who felt Baylor's Robert Griffin III didn't deserve the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night, you couldn't help but feel good for him.
Griffin, who led the No. 12 Baylor Bears to a 9-3 record and a spot in the Alamo Bowl, was simply magnificent this season, and he was the captain of one of college football's best underdog stories.
He passed for nearly 4,000 yards and threw 36 touchdowns to just six interceptions. On top of that, he rushed for 644 yards and nine touchdowns.
On Saturday, Griffin added to his endearing story, accepting the Heisman graciously in front of a respectful crowd.
Not only was Griffin helped by the fact that he was an underdog who rose from general obscurity, he also displayed throughout the season that he was a stand-up individual, with a spotless record off the field.
He also stands to become one of Baylor's legends—a man who won the school its first Heisman Trophy ever.
Griffin's last-second touchdown against the then-No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners on Nov. 19 will go down in history as one of this season's greatest moments. It also showed why Griffin is now widely considered an elite NFL prospect.
Griffin undoubtedly was appreciative of the Heisman on Saturday, but he also knows he has much more on the horizon, including the potential chance to lead an NFL franchise just like he did with Baylor.
For Griffin, the journey is really just beginning, but everyone who watched him this season in college football will always remember what he did for an underrated team named Baylor.
