Indiana Basketball: Hoosiers Stun No. 1 Kentucky with Buzzer-Beater
The Showdown in Bloomington lived up to all the hype on Saturday afternoon, with Assembly Hall roaring so loud that broadcaster Dick Vitale said that it was the loudest he had experienced in a while. So much so that he couldn't hear his partner, Dan Shulman.
Kentucky started the game with a three-point shot from Doron Lamb, and it looked as though the Wildcats were going to soar past the Hoosiers. But the Hoosiers stuck in there and battled back, putting up two jumpers and taking an early 4-3 lead.
It was a very sloppy first half with many turnovers, and the game had 34 total turnovers (Kentucky 16, Indiana 18). However, for ever sloppy turnover that Indiana would take, Kentucky's young squad would surrender a turnover shortly thereafter.
