Who’s Hot and Who’s Not? Week 10

Brandon RibakDec 28, 2008

FIRE ALERT!!!

With fantasy teams getting very competitive as of late, here is a list of players that are doing exceptionally well (Who’s Hot?) and should be started during the upcoming scoring period:

Joe Johnson (SG, ATL)—Joe Johnson is putting up MVP numbers as of late. He recorded a triple-double on Tuesday and dropped 41 points Saturday. Joe is averaging 23.80 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 7.0 APG, and 1.2 SPG, during his last five games and is the No. 1 Who’s Hot player for week 10.

Kevin Durant (SG/SF, OKH)—Durant is averaging 26.2 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 2.8 APG, and 1.8 SPG in his last five games. Kevin is playing stellar during December scoring at least 22 points in each of his last 10 games. At this rate, Kevin will become a scoring champion within a few seasons.

Shaquille O’Neal (C, PHX)—At the age of 36, you would expect Shaq’s numbers to decline significantly, but that is not the case this season. Shaq is out to prove he is still worthy of being in a fantasy starting line-up, averaging 21 PPG, 9.75 RPG, 2.75 APG, 1.5 BPG, during his last five games. He is considered a solid option in week 10.

Deron Williams (PG, UTA)—Williams is close to returning to his 20-and 10-form averaging 19.2 PPG, 9.2 APG, 3.8 RPG, and 1.6 SPG in his last five. You can expect Deron to continue to improve throughout the remainder of the season and end the year as one of the top two point guards in all of fantasy basketball.

Below is a list of players that are playing horrific (Who’s Not!) as of late and should be considered a risky start for the upcoming scoring period:

ICE COLD ALERT!!!

Richard Jefferson (SF, MIL)—Jefferson is playing very inconsistent of late averaging only 13.8 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.0 SPG, shooting 39.7 percent from the field, and making only 23 FG’s over a five-game period. Although the poor play, he is still worth starting in most leagues.

Greg Oden (C, POR)—Oden has failed to prove consistent this season averaging only 7.58 PPG, 7.17 RPG, and 1.33 BPG this season. He is a No. 2 Center in fantasy leagues and has declined in each week since week 4. Oden should not be started in any fantasy league due to his inconsistency.

Luol Deng (SF, CHI)—Deng sprained his left ankle and is expected to miss at least a week of action. His numbers are not worthy of starting on any fantasy team averaging just 10.25 PPG, 7.50 RPG, 1.5 APG, and 1.25 SPG during his last five games.
