Houston Texans vs. Cincinnati Bengals: Live Score, Video and Analysis

Paul WilliamsonDec 11, 2011

The Houston Texans, after the Tennessee Titans were handed their seventh loss to the New Orleans Saints, have clinched the AFC South title with a dramatic 20-19 victory against Cincinnati Bengals, who are playing for their playoff lives.

Rookie quarterback T.J. Yates showed off that he can lead an offense in the final minutes of a game.

Yates marched the ball down the field by staying cool under pressure, being aware of what his receivers are doing, and making smart plays.

On the final drive, making the smart play sometimes meant taking a sack to avoid making a forced pass that might have ended the game.

Whatever was needed to win, is what T.J. Yates did.

All with no timeouts.

Yates was able to get it done by using tight end Owen Daniels early and often. Daniels ran precise routes and Yates threw it perfectly, only in areas where Daniels could make a play.

On a third down play, Yates took a strike in the end zone to Jacoby Jones who was fouled on the play as the Bengal's corner Adam Jones was called for the interference flag.

That set up a short pass over the middle to WR Kevin Walter to win the game, and the division.

Remember, Yates did this against a very stout Cincinnati defense.

Yates looked like a multiyear veteran and took care of the football all game (with one exception being his lone interception).

The drive was set up by the Texans defense, who were burned for 16 points and punished by Cedric Benson for 90+ yards in the first half.

The defense absolutely shut Benson down as he never really got out of the back field very often in the second half.

That ended up hurting their passing game as the Texans were just too much for rookie QB Andy Dalton to handle, minus an effective Cedric Benson.

The Texans showed me, once again, why they are a No. 1 seed in the AFC. They faced true adversity and hit it head on.

They trailed 16-3 at the half and nothing on offense was working and the defense had its back against the wall.

However, behind third string, rookie QB T.J. Yates, the Texans rallied and won.

What more can you ask of a No. 1 seed in the NFL
