WWE TLC 2011: 10 Bold Predictions Title Match Between Mark Henry and Big Show
At WWE TLC, it'll be Mark Henry vs. The Big Show: Round Three.
The two behemoths faced each other for the World Heavyweight Championship at both Vengeance and Survivor Series, and on each occasion Henry walked out of the building still champion.
But shady circumstances surrounding the finishes of both matches have led Henry and Show to yet another singles match, which is only a couple of weeks away.
Who will prevail when these two giants collide for the third straight pay-per-view? Who will enter 2012 as World Heavyweight Champion?
We don't know yet, but we can sure try to figure that out.
Here are 10 bold predictions for the World Heavyweight title match at WWE TLC.
10. It Will Be a Chairs Match
1 of 10Way back in July, Mark Henry put The Big Show on the shelf by breaking his leg with a chair.
Following their match at Survivor Series, Big Show got a little revenge by smashing Henry's leg with a chair as well, and Henry's still limping around a little bit as a result.
See the theme here?
The use of chairs by both Show and Henry seems to be leading toward a Chairs Match, which may be one of the dumbest stipulations I've ever seen.
But it is what it is, and given their long history of chair use, expect to see Show and Henry whacking each other with chairs throughout the TLC pay-per-view.
9. The Bout Won't Go More Than 8-10 Minutes
2 of 10There's no need to drag out this match any longer than 10 minutes.
I won't spoil Smackdown for you, but you'll see a couple of very good match ups added to WWE TLC on Friday, and we've already got a solid United States Championship bout and a nice Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship on tap.
I realize the importance of the World Heavyweight Championship and the fact that WWE officials might want this match between The Big Show and Mark Henry to go a little longer than this.
But there are so many other good matches on the card that will blow Henry/Show out of the water wrestling-wise that the WWE would be wise to keep this match relatively short.
Let them duke it out in the ring for eight to 10 minutes, and then get the hell out of there.
8. Daniel Bryan Will Appear at Ringside to Teash a Cash-in and Then Leave
3 of 10The feud between Mark Henry and Daniel Bryan has basically overshadowed the one between The World's Strongest Man and The Big Show.
The WWE definitely seems to be teasing some sort of confrontation—or another huge match—between Bryan and Henry down the road, and I think it's just a matter of when, not if, that will happen.
It could happen at the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania 28, on an episode of Friday Night SmackDown or any number of occasions really.
Until then, though, I think Bryan will continue to get involved in Henry's business like he did when he cashed in his briefcase on SmackDown a couple of weeks ago.
My guess is that Bryan make an an appearance at ringside during the Show/Henry match in an attempt to distract Henry, much like Zack Ryder and Wade Barrett did on this Monday's Raw.
7. The Match Will Be Better Than the First Two
4 of 10Other than a few jaw-dropping moments during each match, the two pay-per-view World Heavyweight Championship bouts between Mark Henry and The Big Show were pretty awful.
I mean, it's pretty much expected that two huge guys like them aren't going to put on a wrestling classic, but their two title bouts—especially the one at Survivor Series—were even worse than I thought they'd be.
Slow and methodical matches can actually be good, but Henry and Show made them pretty boring.
I'm going to go out on a limb here, though, and say that their match at WWE TLC will be the best of the trilogy.
Longer matches don't always make them better, so I think the WWE should keep this one short and pick up the pace a little bit to prevent us from falling a sleep.
6. This Will Be the Final Henry vs. Show Match on Pay-Per-View
5 of 10We've gotten two straight pay-per-view matches between The Big Show and Mark Henry already, and WWE TLC marks the third.
Enough is enough.
Some trilogies can be good, but roughly 99 percent of them completely suck. I'd say that the Show/Henry trilogy is somewhere in between because the feud itself has been decent, but the matches have left a lot to be desired.
It's worth seeing a great feud that features great wrestling (like Randy Orton vs. Christian) last for four or five pay-per-views, but I can't say that about Show vs. Henry.
The sun seems to be setting on their lengthy rivalry, and at TLC, I hope it sets for good.
5. We'll See Another Big "WTF?" Moment
6 of 10At Vengeance, we saw the WWE revisit that classic moment between Brock Lesnar and The Big Show by having Henry superplex Show and cause the ring to implode.
Then, at Survivor Series, we saw Big Show climb up the ropes and hit a huge top rope elbow drop on Henry.
Both were huge "WTF" moments.
I think they were actually the main two moments in both of those matches that saved them from being complete disasters. In other words, the bouts were much better than they would have been had those huge jaw-dropping moments never taken place.
If WWE officials realize that the next Henry/Show match won't be that good unless they feature either Henry or Show doing the unthinkable, then I think we'll see another awe-inspiring moment at WWE TLC.
I'm not sure what it will be, but I'm fairly confident that it will happen.
4. There Will Be No Clean Finish for the Third Straight Time
7 of 10Both of the World Heavyweight Championship matches between Mark Henry and The Big Show have had questionable finishes.
At Vengeance, the match was ruled a draw after Henry superplexed Show and the ring collapsed, and at Survivor Series, Henry intentionally got himself disqualified when he hit Show with a low blow.
That leads me to believe that the WWE doesn't want either giant to take a clean loss, and thus, the company will find a way to have yet another shady finish at WWE TLC.
It'll be hard to do so if the match has a gimmicked stipulation, but I'm sure the WWE can come up with something.
The end result should be the same no matter what company officials decide to do, though, and that is some kind of outside interference or controversial decision leading to either Show or Henry winning the match (though not necessarily winning the title).
3. Mark Henry Will Retain His World Heavyweight Championship
8 of 10Like I said in the last slide, I don't know exactly how it will go down, but I'm almost certain that Mark Henry will retain his World Heavyweight Championship.
The World's Strongest Man is getting the bigger push at the moment, and I'm thinking that the WWE will keep that push going until an up-and-coming star is able to defeat Henry for the title.
It would make a lot more sense for a young stud to defeat Henry and then get a massive push afterward than it would for an aging veteran like The Big Show to end Henry's reign of terror.
Big Show doesn't need to be winning titles at this stage of his career, and Henry's current push should ultimately result in the push of someone else.
That's precisely why I think Henry will retain his World Heavyweight title for the third consecutive time against The Big Show.
2. Masked Kane Will Return Post-Match and Demolish Mark Henry
9 of 10The WWE has been running those "Kane Resurrected" promos for a few weeks now, and it seems pretty clear that The Big Red Monster will be returning with his mask on.
He could certainly return as a huge heel, but I think it's more likely that he returns as a baby face and attacks the man who put him out of action way back in July.
That man is Mark Henry.
Kane has been out of action for more than four months, and he can put all the blame for his injury on Henry. So, don't you think he would want some revenge on the World's Strongest Man?
I sure do.
I thought we would have seen Kane return by now to attack Henry and cost him his World Heavyweight Championship, but that hasn't happened yet.
At WWE TLC, however, I think it will.
1. Daniel Bryan Will Cash in His Briefcase to Become World Heavyweight Champion
10 of 10Sure, it would be an awesome moment to see Daniel Bryan to wait all the way until WrestleMania 28 to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and become World Heavyweight Champion.
But when Bryan was interviewed on last week's Raw, he said that he cashed in on Mark Henry on SmackDown "because he saw an opportunity."
In my view, that was the WWE's way of saying, "Bryan might cash in before WrestleMania 28, and just in case he does, this is how we're going to explain it."
Bryan's constant involvement with Henry could mean that Henry remains champion four the next four months until WrestleMania and then faces Bryan for the World Heavyweight title at the pay-per-view. But I'm honestly not sure that the WWE can keep us interested enough in this feud until then.
If that is indeed the case, then perhaps the WWE will move Bryan's cash-in and title win up a bit and have it happen at WWE TLC instead.
Hey, you never say never in the wrestling business.
