Brock Lesnar: 3 Reasons Why WWE Fans Would Salivate over His Return to Wrestling

Dave LeonDec 7, 2011

Brock Lesnar has done it all. NCAA wrestling champ. WWE champ. UFC champ. His short-lived NFL career aside, there isn't much Brock hasn't accomplished in any of his his chosen fields.

Brock has said on many occasions that he would be open to doing business with WWE if the timing and money were right.

Vinny Mac, it's time to open that substantial wallet of yours. Here's why...

It Would Be Bigger Than the Rock's Return

If the Rock's appearance at Survivor Series proved anything, it's that everything old is new again.

Lesnar has been away just as long as Rocky, but he has stayed involved in athletics the entire time he's been away from WWE.

If he had a few weeks to work off the ring rust before officially coming back, he could be just as sharp in the ring as Rocky was in his return. And much more intimidating.

His Match(es) Would Walk a Very Fine Line...

...between work and shoot.

Lesnar is capable of having a great wrestling match. Anyone who saw his bout with Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 19 can attest to that. He is also, as his UFC career has proven, capable of beating a man like a punching bag until he cries "uncle."

Lesnar has a legit beef with The Undertaker. They were seen jaw-jacking after Brock lost at UFC 121. He also had a recent war of words with Steve Austin. Brock claimed that Austin didn't want to do the job early in Brock's career because Austin wanted to protect his spot. Mr. Austin has taken exception to Brock's claims, saying that the timing wasn't right to put Lesnar over.

The fact that Taker and Austin are on in years makes no difference. Put Brock in the ring with either of those guys, and you have a guaranteed Match of the Year candidate.

Or a legit fight.

Either way, it would be a hell of a thing to see.

His List of Possible Opponents Would Be Endless

Brock's last WWE performance was a reprehensible effort against Bill Goldberg at WrestleMania 20. What should have been an epic showdown turned out to be one of the worst WrestleMania matches ever. Simply put, they stunk the joint up, and the fans at the Garden let them know it.

He could rectify that by coming back and squashing either John Cena or CM Punk in his first appearance back, leading to a feud.

Heresy, you say? Maybe, but can you imagine the money a feud between those guys would generate? Brock can be a full-on monster heel and plow through half the roster on his way to Punk/Cena.

Alberto Del Rio? F-5, you're done.

Jack Swagger? Thanks for coming.

The Miz? Not even in the same ballpark.

Unlike a match with Austin and Taker, which would be a one-and-done, a built-up feud with Cena or Punk  would draw astronomical amounts of money from both WWE and UFC fans.

Brock still generates money. Why else would WWE have bothered to add him to WWE12, let alone pay the guy to do an ad?

It's good for business, that's why. Vince McMahon has done worse things and dealt with worse people because it's good for business. Even if Brock just did a one-off, the buy rates would be outrageous. Put him in a Mania match with Austin, Taker, Punk or Cena and the sky's the limit.
