No Major Injuries to Report
What's At Stake?
Duke hasn’t lost to a non-ACC team at Cameron Indoor in over 10 years. They had a solid stretch away from their home arena but it ended with a blowout loss to Ohio State.
They will look to regain their composure and pick up an easy win tonight against the Rams.
It shouldn’t be too hard as the Rams have not beaten a ranked opponent since 2004 and even then it was just a No. 25 Air Force team.
What They're Saying
Coach K had some interesting words to say about their loss to Ohio State last week.
"Sometimes you just get your butt kicked," coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "We were getting our butt kicked. I've had my butt kicked before. We've kicked some butt. Tonight my butt's sore."
Guard Wes Eikmeier is the Rams leading scorer but was not able to get going like they needed him to in their road loss to Northern Iowa on Saturday.
"(Northern Iowa) defensively did a very good job on Wes early in the game," Colorado State coach Tim Miles said. "We just took too long to respond."
Colorado State Player to Watch: Dorian Green
The 6’2” junior guard has stepped up big in Hornung’s absence, especially in the rebounding category.
He’s averaging 4.4 boards on the season but has grabbed nine in each of the last two games.
Duke Player to Watch: Austin Rivers
Rivers has a number of critics right now but is going to use each game as opportunity to silence them.
"Every game is a chance to prove something," Rivers said. "Every game I have a chip on my shoulder because there's a lot of haters out there and I try to prove them all wrong."
Key Matchup: Colorado State forcing turnovers and getting rebounds.
Duke ranks near the bottom of D-I basketball in rebounding per game and also have far more turnovers than assists.
If the Rams can force them into costly mistakes and outhustle them on the boards, they may have a very small chance at the upset.
Prediction: Duke 85, Colorado State 60
This is going to be an easy game for Duke after they returned home and are now well-rested after a brutal four-game, nine-night stretch against tough opponents.
They are looking to pick up their 90th straight win in a row over non-conference opponents as well and should have no problem against the Rams.
