NBA Trade Rumors: 3 Best Bargains on the Trading Block
With the NBA season less than three weeks away and the free-agency period not even a week away, we're about to see some rapid movement from players.
The big names are out there, but those aren't the only players that will bring a lot value to their potential new teams.
Here are a few names that you aren't hearing as much about. Hint: some of them are involved in the same rumored deals that you're hearing a lot about.
Ken Berger of CBSSports reports that the Lakers would be willing to move Bynum for Dwight Howard.
Now, the better player of the two is clearly Howard, there's really no denying that. But this goes beyond that. The Magic know that, too, so Bynum wouldn't be coming alone.
But even if he is the biggest name the Lakers would get, they're bringing in a 24-year-old who averaged nearly a double-double a season ago.
When you factor in Bynum with the players that the Lakers would certainly need to add to acquire Howard, this would not be a bad trade. Bynum would be a nice steal, just not as nice as this one.
Brook Lopez
Marc Stein and Chad Ford of ESPN reported that the Nets are prepared to give up two first-round picks and Lopez for Orlando's Dwight Howard. That would be an incredible move for the Magic.
Lopez averaged better than 20 points, six rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game during the 2010-2011 season. Yes, those numbers are down from Howard's average of nearly 23 points, 14 rebounds and 2.4 blocks, but the trade benefits the Magic in a big way.
Lopez is more than two years younger than Howard and would come with two first-round draft picks. It's hard to imagine Orlando passing on that offer in favor of what the Lakers will have to offer.
Paul Millsap
Unlike the aforementioned two players, Millsap is not merely the other guy in a trade involving a bigger name.
As Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star reported, the Jazz are looking to move Millsap, and the Pacers are a possible destination.
Now, he wasn't specific as to what the Pacers would need to give up but as Kravitz said, he'd be much cheaper than signing someone like David West or Nene would be.
Millsap is a bulky power forward who averaged better than 17 points and nearly eight boards a game last season. He'll be 27 in February, so age is certainly not a concern.
This is a solid move for a sleeper team in the Eastern Conference to make.
