WWE News: Sheamus & 5 Babyfaces Who Can Capitalize on John Morrison's Departure
With John Morrison's WWE career mercifully coming to an end this past week, the WWE is once again lean in its babyface department, namely in the midcard.
Randy Orton has acted as somewhat of a placeholder as an awkward midcard babyface while Mark Henry reigns as champion on SmackDown, while the RAW side is virtually devoid of any serious midcard babyface.
That is, outside of maybe Zack Ryder, who seems to get start-and-stopped routinely despite his popularity.
While heels like Dolph Ziggler, Cody Rhodes and Wade Barrett begin their respective rises up the WWE pecking order, many midcard babyfaces have been left in obscurity, which is a trend that cannot continue should the WWE's rising heels look to sustain their competitive success.
There is no doubt that John Morrison's departure has created a void in the coveted midcard babyface position that can certainly be filled by some of the WWE's fast rising superstars.
Zack Ryder
1 of 5Zack Ryder is fully equipped to take the next step in his WWE career. All it comes down to is whether or not the WWE higher ups are willing to swallow their foolish pride and work with somebody who largely became a star on his own accord.
With his popularity once resembling a cult-like following, Ryder has now ascended to a top-two babyface on each show, rivaling that of John Cena who normally receives a mixed reaction.
Ryder looks to be one match away from being cemented as a possible player in the WWE's upper midcard, and that match could be for the United States Championship against the equally talented Dolph Ziggler.
R-Truth
2 of 5R-Truth figures to be chum bait for the Miz upon his return from suspension, but he is wildly charismatic and will have a fresh babyface run ready for him when he returns as his "Lil Jimmy" character.
Whether babyface or heel, Truth has always proven to be solid in the upper midcard, and even enjoyed a mildly successful run at the top of the card when he feuded with John Cena.
R-Truth's face turn may have come involuntarily due to a looming suspension, but it may prove to be beneficial to the WWE now that they are lacking babyface depth on the RAW side.
Sheamus
3 of 5Sheamus is right back to where he started in the WWE, and may be close to surpassing his early successes.
However, Sheamus doesn't figure to be a world championship contender while Mark Henry is champion, as the two already wrestled against one another in a recent pay-per-view match that was won by Henry. For now, the WWE needs to get the most out of Sheamus in his role as an upper midcard babyface.
Morrison's departure figures to create more opportunities for Sheamus to be featured on both RAW and SmackDown, and this would help both the Celtic Warrior and the WWE.
Daniel Bryan
4 of 5Believe it or not, Daniel Bryan may be the most complete babyface in all of the WWE. Along with his unquestionably adept in-ring work, Bryan is very intense and convincing in his promos as a tough guy in a similar way in which Chris Benoit was.
Bryan's promo about being a hypocrite on RAW this past week was on point, as Bryan did a great job of explaining his questionable act of going against his word and attempting to cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase before WrestleMania.
With Bryan's momentum now starting to build, it is important that he keeps it up prior to cashing in his briefcase for real.
Randy Orton
5 of 5John Morrison's absence may necessitate a revival of sorts for one Randy Orton. Orton will likely continue to pull double duty on both RAW and SmackDown as the WWE looks to feature more midcard programs, and Orton has done a good job in an otherwise unenviable role.
Orton will only continue to be a midcard babyface for so long, so it is of the utmost importance that the WWE utilize his talents and keep him relevant as opposed to a big name who continues to lose to up-and-coming wrestlers.
