BCS Bowl Projections: Boise State Broncos Will Sneak into Sugar Bowl
When tonight's BCS bowl games are announced, the Boise State Broncos should be sneaking into the Allstate Sugar Bowl. With the Houston Cougars falling to the Southern Miss Eagles in the Conference USA Championship Game, the Broncos stand a chance to jump the Cougars and make some noise once again at bowl decision time.
The Broncos have a record of 11-1, and with their only loss being at the hands of the 10-2 TCU Horned Frogs, they stand a chance to make an at large bowl game this season.
The Broncos' move to the Mountain West Conference this season gives them an easier shot of making an at-large bowl game, but their schedule wasn't that difficult. With a win over the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 1, that may just be enough to propel them into a BCS bowl game.
The Broncos previously made the Fiesta Bowl in both 2006 and 2009. Both games they won, so they have shown that they have what it takes to win in the big games. If they do make the Sugar Bowl, they will likely be put up against the Michigan Wolverines.
The Broncos are ranked higher then the Wolverines, but still both teams would be a great match up. The Broncos will need this win over Michigan to put a staple on their season that could have gone perfect if it wasn't for a missed field goal against the Horned Frogs.
Coach Chris Petersen is 3-2 in Bowl season play. Two of those losses account for part of his six total losses since becoming the head coach at Boise State. He has proved that he can put a team on the field that can win, and there is no doubt that the odds will be in their favor no matter who they end up playing at the Sugar Bowl.
With senior quarterback Kellen Moore playing in his last season with the Broncos, he will be looking to take his team to one last victory, and nothing would taste sweeter then a bowl victory at the Sugar Bowl.
