NFL Week 13 Predictions: Patriots and More Lead-Pipe Locks to Cover the Spread

Wes ODonnellDec 4, 2011

We've already seen some craziness go down in Week 13. The Philadelphia Eagles, once and for all, were knocked out of the playoff race after "winning" the offseason.

Now it is Sunday and time for the full slate of games to kick off.

Here are some lead-pipe locks to cover the spread.

Patriots (-20.5) vs. Colts

New England and Indianapolis were flexed out of the Sunday Night matchup because of the unappealing nature of this game.

Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the Patriots as a whole enter this game knowing full well they're the favorites to land the AFC No. 1 seed with their weak remaining schedule. There is no chance of a letdown for this team.

Indianapolis will give Dan Orlovsky the start today in Foxborough, and that is just about all you need to know.

That Pats have won their last three games by an average of 23 points.

Falcons (-1.5) at Texans

This has a bit of risky nature to it, but the there is a difference between starting your first game in the NFL and coming in off the bench.

Rookie T.J. Yates is about to find to find that out quickly.

Houston is going to count on its running game and feisty defense to hold things together, but if you were to tell me that Matt Ryan would ultimately be beaten by Yates in his first start, I'd be inclined to punch you.

Atlanta has won five of their last six games and three of their four losses have come at the hands of NFC powers (Green Bay, New Orleans and Chicago).

The Texans are a good team with interesting situation, but Matt Ryan has been here before.

Saints (-9) vs. Lions

Either New Orleans' hot streak will continue, or Detroit's cold streak will be snapped. I'm always inclined to ride the trends in games like this.

Thus, the Saints' 5-0 mark at home against the spread this season and 6-1 mark against the spread in dome games is enough for me.

Detroit is 2-4 in their last six games, and this is not a good time to be taking on Drew Brees. To make matters worse, the Lions' defensive line will be without All-Pro Ndamukong Suh.

Nine is a lot of points, but home-field advantage is almost worth five points alone to the Saints.
