BCS Bowl Projections: Oklahoma State Doesn't Deserve BCS Title Berth
The Oklahoma State Cowboys don't deserve to play in the BCS national championship game even if the top-ranked LSU Tigers lose in the SEC championship game to Georgia.
Even if the Cowboys dominate their arch rivals, the Oklahoma Sooners, at home on Saturday night, they would not be more deserving of either SEC team.
LSU and Alabama are not only more talented up and down their rosters than Oklahoma State, they have played tougher schedules.
The Tigers have played eight ranked teams this season, including the Crimson Tide on the road. Alabama has played a grueling SEC schedule and challenged themselves outside the conference against a good Penn State team from the Big Ten.
The Cowboys' best opponents were overrated Oklahoma, Baylor and Kansas State teams.
The Big 12 as a whole this season has been pretty competitive, but there are no standout teams that make Oklahoma State's BCS resume standout.
The Cowboys' only loss going into the Bedlam game with Oklahoma was to Iowa State in double overtime.
The Cyclones are not a good team, and under the pressure of being upset as the No. 2 ranked team in the nation Oklahoma State fell apart.
Alabama's only loss was to LSU in overtime, in a game they could have won. If LSU loses to Georgia, that loss would be much less worse than the Cowboys' defeat to Iowa State.
Even if everything goes Oklahoma State's way on the final day of the regular season, they are not deserving of a BCS title game berth.
They haven't beaten enough quality teams, especially when compared to LSU and Alabama, and the Cowboys don't have the same talent as the two SEC powerhouses.
