Tennessee Titans vs. Buffalo Bills: Spread Info, Line and Predictions

Richard LangfordDec 3, 2011

The Titans will enter in Ralph Wilson Stadium with renewed hopes of taking the AFC South crown. Tennessee is two games behind the Texans, but with the Texans' recent rash of QB injuries they have a real chance of catching the Texans.

To do that they are going to have to handle their business in a game they should win against the reeling Buffalo Bills.

Meanwhile, the Bills have lost four games in a row and have fallen to 5-6. They still have slim hopes at the playoffs, but they have to stop losing now to keep those hopes alive.

Where: Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo, New York

When: Sunday, December 4th at 1:00 p.m. EST

Watch: CBS

Key Injuries

The Titans have a couple of banged up pass catchers in TE Jared Cook and WR Donnie Avery. Both have been listed as probable to play.

They likely won't have to worry about Bills safety George Wilson covering them. He is listed as doubtful. However, CB Leodis McKelvin should be able to go, and is listed as probable.

Spread: Bills -2 (according to Football Locks)

Take the Titans and the points.

The Titans have been consistently solid all year, and Chris Johnson is starting to show signs of life.

The Bills are falling apart, and their weak defense will lead to easy plays for the Titans offense. The Bills looked a little better against the Jets losing 28-24, but they were a disaster in the two games prior to that.

Over/Under: 43 (according to Football Locks)

Take the over.

The Bills have only played two games all season where the total has been under 43. Their defense is an absolute disaster. As long as they can muster a few points on offense, this will crack the over.

Fantasy Big Plays

Start: Titans RB Chris Johnson

Johnson has been the season's biggest fantasy disappointment. However, he has finally begun to show signs of life. He has rushed for 130 yards or more in two of his last three and is coming off a 190-yard effort.

He should find some running lanes in this one as he goes against a Bills team that is 21st in rushing yards allowed per game and 23rd in yards allowed per rush.

Sit: Titans TE Jared Cook

Cook has been a consistent TE this season. However, he enters this game a little banged up and he is going against a Bills team that defends TEs much better than they do receivers.

Football Outsiders ranks the Bills 12th against opposing TEs, and they are 27th against both No. 1 and 2 receivers. QB Matt Hasselbeck will be looking towards the outside instead of his TE in this one.

Keys to Titans Win: Keep the ground game going

The Titans need to open up the running lanes for Chris Johnson. If he has a seam, he can take it to the house. This dimension has been missing for most of the season. But, as we mentioned above, CJ has been productive lately.

If Johnson can dominate the ground game then Hasselbeck will have the opportunity to hit for big plays on the outside, and the Titans will control the flow of the game.

Keys to Bills Win: Avoid INTs

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has had an up and down season. Until last week, his play had recently been more down than up.

In the three games leading up to last week's, Fitzpatrick had thrown a combined seven INTs. Not coincidentally, the Bills scored just 26 combined points in that stretch.

Prediction: Titans 27, Bills 20

The Bills defense is going to kill them in this game. The Titans will get Chris Johnson going and then add some passing game in for good measure.

Without RB Fred Jackson, who is on IR, the Bills simply do not have the offensive firepower to keep up.
