Muhammad Ali Won't Stop Fighting as He Approaches His 70th Birthday
Shame on us for thinking that Muhammad Ali would ever submit without putting together another epic bout.
The man that fought the US government, and drew in the best the heavyweight division has ever seen, has once again pulled a rope-a-dope.
The Courier-Journal reports the iconic sports figure is back home after he was hospitalized in Arizona. On November 19th, Ali was rushed from his wife Yolanda's home in Paradise Valley, Ariz., to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center.
The medical issues behind this have not been disclosed. John Ramsey, a Louisville radio personality and close friend of Ali's, spoke with the family and had some information for The Courier-Journal.
He stated that Ali is in as good of health as can be expected, and is "just ready to party" at next month's birthday celebration. Ali turns 70 on January 19th. Here is what Ramsey had to offer on the situation.
"After slipping out of consciousness at his Phoenix-area home. (Ali is) home and well, for a person who has had Parkinson’s since the 1980s. He may not be going in the direction you or I like, but no one is on alert. That’s the truth. Muhammad is there, asking for his breakfast. She (Lonnie) said he is fine.
"
Reports state that no one knows for sure why Ali was hospitalized or for how long. What is certain is that Ali is home and doing fine.
Next month will prove to be a joyous occasion, as the man who built out the sport of boxing turns 70. That birthday is a celebration of a fighter that never gives up.
He didn't give up when he danced around the ring against George Foreman, Ken Norton or Joe Frazier. So it's fitting that he continues to dance around Parkinson's, a disease he was diagnosed with in 1984.
We got quite the scare, as an old legend was hospitalized. But that's just because we forgot that Ali's resolve is as strong as ever.
