Pac-12 Championship Game: UCLA Bruins Are Sorry Representative of Pac-12 South
The excitement surrounding the first-ever Pac-12 championship will be short lived, as the lopsided matchup will produce an inevitable blowout.
The UCLA Bruins somehow squirmed their way into the driver's seat in the Pac-12 South. The sanctions levied upon USC has made it so that a Bruins team that the Trojans buried 50-0 is representing the Pac-12 South in the championship game.
To make matters worse, UCLA is going into the game with Rick Neuheisel leading his troops into battle even though he won't be coaching the Bruins past this season.
Limping into this game at 6-6 and getting shellacked by LaMichael James and Oregon is going to leave people wondering "is this the best the Pac-12 South has to offer?"
The answer is of course, no. Arizona State completely imploded, losing four of their last five after winning five out of their first six, including a standout performance against the vaunted Trojans.
The collapse prompted the Sun Devils to fire Erickson, and essentially, they wouldn't even be a better representative in the championship game, as they dropped the ball and lost to UCLA in a tight game themselves.
Essentially, fans don't want to see the Pac-12 championship game be a blowout. Luckily, while the North has the power this year, the South has talent, even if it's not shown in the first edition of this game.
With USC's sanctions being lifted and UCLA and ASU undergoing head-coaching changes, the North should enjoy this easy win, as the future in the Pac-12 remains more uncertain than in any other conference.
