Can Skip Sheffield Be a Real Contender in WWE When He Returns?
While going through WWE's roster page recently, I noticed something interesting. Someone I had completely forgotten about was still with the company.
Skip Sheffield was one of the standout performers on the first season of NXT, and his character only got more exposure during the Nexus angle on Raw.
Unfortunately for the young grappler, he was sidelined with a broken ankle after wrestling a tag team match in Hawaii during a house show.

This was barely two months into the Nexus angle, so Sheffield ended up getting the raw end of the deal in terms of becoming a major player in WWE.
He had good potential to be a big asset to WWE, and his injury only put up another roadblock for Sheffield to get over.
Now it is being reports by WrestlingInc.com that he will be returning soon. Here is an excerpt from their report:
"On Skip Sheffield's Facebook page, he was tagged in a photo by a fan who ran into him earlier this month at an auto shop in Florida. The fan says Sheffield told him he will be returning to WWE television under the name Ryback. Sheffield was removed from the RAW Superstars page on WWE.com earlier this week, thus indicating that the character is through. WWE recently applied to trademark Ryback, which suggests that he will be repackaged with a new character upon his return from injury.
"
If WWE is indeed bringing Sheffield back as this Ryback character, this could be very promising for the young superstar.
Ryback was a character he used in development, an unstoppable terminator-type character.
Sheffield showed a lot of upside potential in his short time with WWE, and I hope for his sake that he is able to come back and be successful.
Many of his former Nexus teammates have fallen to the wayside since the faction broke up, so coming back fresh from injury could benefit Sheffield when it comes to standing out among his former Nexus team.
I am looking forward to what Sheffield can offer when he returns.
What are your thoughts? Can Sheffield stand out when he returns, or will he be destined to be a mid-card talent?
