Big Ten Championship: Russell Wilson and Montee Ball Will Dominate Spartans
Do you need a ticket to the Big Ten Championship Game? I hear they have vacancies by the boatload in Indy. Which is a shame considering the marvels that will dominate the game in Montee Ball and Russell Wilson.
Really, what more do you want in a game. We hum and haw about games that are dominated by defense because they are boring and unwatchable. Then comes news that they can't give away tickets to the Big Ten title game in Indianapolis.
The Lantern reports there are still tickets available for what is shaping up to be one hell of a grudge match. Don't say you never have anything good to do Indy, because you are missing out on two future NFLers doing their thing on the big stage Saturday.
Wisconsin can still taste the bitter, vile stuff that was handed to them when they dropped their first loss of the season against Michigan State. The last-second Hail Mary that did them in derailed their season and unhitched their resolve for another week, as they also lost to Ohio State in the subsequent week.
But it gets better.
Montee Ball: The man has been on a tear. Consider that he has scored at least two touchdowns in every single game this season, and you realize Michigan State is already playing from behind and the game is yet to start.
Ball is a dynamo that is elusive and passionate with the ball. The Spartans will have to contend with one of two players up for Big Ten player of the year.
The other?
Russell Wilson: It's bad enough to have to zero in on Ball, but the Spartans defense will have to have an eye on Wilson all game as well. The wheels came off a bit in their first meeting, but Wilson has been every bit as good as we remember since that fateful day.
He is back on track and has a ridiculous passer rating of 192.9 this season. The guy doesn't miss. So consider the two picks he threw on Michigan State to be the real outliers.
Here is the assessment of their offense from the horse's mouth. Actually, how about we hear it from Wilson instead. On his and Ball's success, he states:
"It's extremely rare. It's a once-in-a-lifetime type thing. You don't see it very often, but I think with Montee's ability to do a lot of different things, and then with my ability to throw the ball extremely well and to improvise when I have to, it's pretty dangerous.
"
That's all you need to know to mandate this game on your to-do list this weekend. It will be an exciting affair that features two of the best players in the nation. There is nothing more we could ask for as fans.
