Why Bobby Ryan Will Not Be Traded to the Boston Bruins
The Anaheim Ducks have has a terrible start to their 2011-2012 campaign, and because of it, there have been many rumors that they were shopping their United States Olympian, Bobby Ryan, around the NHL. There have been several rumors and articles stating that the Bruins would be a perfect fit for Ryan, and Boston should do what it can to acquire the star forward.
Bruins fans should get this idea out of their heads quickly because Ryan will not be in a Boston jersey at any point in the near future.
When the rumor of Ryan heading to Boston first began, many believed that David Krejci would be the most likely trading chip after the lackluster season he has this year. This was an interesting idea, until the Bruins decided to give Krejci a three-year extension on Thursday that will be pay him an average of $5.25 million each year.

That's more than Ryan Kesler, but I'm not here to talk about whether or not I think that was a good deal.
Now that Krejci is seemingly locked into the Bruins organization, he no longer is a trading chip for Bobby Ryan.
This doesn't lead many options for Boston if it did want to still trade for Ryan. If the Bruins still wanted the Duck, they would most likely have to give up their 2011 first-round draft pick, Dougie Hamilton.
Hamilton, a highly acclaimed defensive prospect, went eighth overall in this past draft with one of the draft picks the Bruins got for trading Phil Kessel to the Toronto Maple Leafs. He is currently playing in the OHL for the Niagra IceDogs, with whom he has 38 points in 25 games this season for sixth in the league.
Not bad for a 6'4'', 18-year-old.
In other words, the Bruins would be plain dumb to get rid of Hamilton. There is no reason for Boston to get rid of its top prospect, especially when he is a guy who will make a huge impact on the blue line at the TD Garden just a few years from now.
Even if the Bruins were to offer up Hamilton for Ryan, there is still very little chance that the trade actually happens. There are teams such as the New York Rangers, who have several young players they could trade for Ryan and make for a more appealing trade package for Anaheim.
With Randy Carlyle being fired as the head coach for Anaheim and Bruce Boudreau being hired to take his place, the prospect of the Ducks trading Bobby Ryan to any team is slim. Boudreau needs to get a feel for his new team, and he could decide that trading Ryan would ultimately be bad for the organization going forward.
On a final note, do the Bruins seem like they need Ryan?
The Bruins are the hottest team in all of hockey, sporting a 12-0-1 record over the past 13 games that has vaulted them into first place in the Northeast Division and second place in the Eastern Conference. They have has no problem scoring during that span either, which certainly makes me think that Boston doen't need a guy like Bobby Ryan right now.
In any case, it seems unlikely that Bobby Ryan will be wearing black and yellow in the near future. What do you think?
