NFL Week 13 Predictions: Home Favorites That Won't Cover Spread
There really is no place like home, especially in the NFL. Playing in front of 70,000 fans that are hanging on everything that you do, not to mention vociferously distracting the other team, has to be an adrenaline rush.
But not all home teams are created equal. In fact, there are going to be some games in which the host is getting too much love because the oddsmakers don't know what they are doing.
Injuries, poor performances and/or tough games are going to destroy the hopes that the home team has of covering the ridiculously high spreads that have been handed to them. That is not to say they won't win, because in most cases they are the better team.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Still, there are a few teams playing at home that are getting too much love in Week 13.
Kansas City Chiefs at Chicago Bears (-7)
I know that the Chiefs are a walking disaster right now with Tyler Palko playing quarterback, but the defense played an inspired game against the Steelers last week and have a much easier task against the Bears on Sunday.
Caleb Hanie did his best against the Raiders last Sunday, though there was still a lot to be desired. He has to prove that he can be the quarterback this team needs over the final five games before we start predicting the Bears to win games by a wide margin.
The Bears will win the game because they are the better team, but seven points is way too much considering their limited offensive capabilities.
Bears 21, Chiefs 17
Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers (-7)
It is astounding to me that the Bengals are not getting more respect from the oddsmakers considering how well they have played all season.
They looked fatigued last week against the Browns after consecutive games against the Steelers and Ravens, but will be focused this week to prove that they are for real.
The best thing you can say about the Steelers regarding last week's game against the Chiefs is that they won. Other than that, there is nothing worth talking about.
Still, the Steelers always seem to find a way to win any game no matter the situation. They will do it again this week, but not by seven points.
Steelers 24, Bengals 20
Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints (-9)
You would think that the Lions were playing like it was 2010 or something, being a nine-point underdog this week, though all the controversy surrounding Ndamukong Suh could divert their attention away from the field.
Still, the Lions have enough playmakers on offense—hello, Calvin Johnson—to keep up with Drew Brees and Co.
Their defensive line has been a bust this season, even with Suh playing, as they rank 23rd against the run, and they have not been able to create consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
Brees is having an MVP season, though Aaron Rodgers has a good stranglehold on that right now. Their defense still gives up a lot of yards and points, so it is not like they are invincible, even though they average nearly 42 points per game at home.
