MLB Free Agents: Jose Reyes and Players Teams Should Avoid at All Costs
There are several big-name players that are free agents this offseason. Superstars like Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder are going to fetch a ridiculous amount of money from teams around the league.
However, there are a few free agents who are not worth signing. Here are five players that MLB teams should avoid at all costs.
Jose Reyes
1 of 5This is a controversial one. Hear me out. Yes I know Reyes will be signed to a huge contract, but is he really worth all the money teams are going to give him? Reyes has not played a full season since 2008 and has a history of hamstring problems. There is no question that Reyes is one of the best players in baseball when healthy, but to give him $90 million and above? It seems like a waste of money for the team that may sign him. MLB teams beware.
Mark DeRosa
2 of 5Here is another guy who just got rich by being injured. Two years ago, the San Francisco Giants signed DeRosa to a two-year, $12 million dollar deal. It didn't turn out well. DeRosa played in only 73 games with the Giants and did not produce at all during the Giants' World Series run. If teams are looking for third base help, cross DeRosa's name off the list.
Edwin Jackson
3 of 5He's what I like to call a Jekyll and Hyde pitcher. In some starts he is good and in other starts he can be wild. Beware.
Jimmy Rollins
4 of 5Here's a good player who seems to be on the decline. It is hard to believe that a few years ago, he was MVP of the National League. He had a good season last year but says he wants a five-year deal. I don't know if he is going to get it.
Aramis Ramirez
5 of 5Ramirez is coming off one of his best seasons in 2010, hitting 26 HR and 93 RBI. However, he is 33 years old and that's where hitters start to decline.
