A B/R Interview: Clint Kingsbury Training Relentlessly to Do It All

Dwight WakabayashiNov 30, 2011

Clint Kingsbury is as relentless in his busy life as he is inside the cage—and he has to be to reach the goals he has set for himself in life and in MMA.

Kinsgbury is a busy husband, father and wrestling coach by day, but this Saturday night he is set to try and stay undefeated in MMA against Ottawa fighter Randy Turner. The 135-pound former Canadian wrestling star, Kingsbury is coming off an incredible TKO victory against Mitchell Kay in July

Kingsbury is an in-your-face fighter from the opening bell who loves to get in tight and use his world-class wrestling to put you where he wants you. He is also developing a quick and powerful striking game and is not easily submitted.

The Meltdown is presented by The Score Fighting Series. The event goes down in Sarnia, Ontario and is a packed card filled with local MMA stars.

Find out who Kinsgbury picks in UFC 140 fights Jones vs Machida and Hominick vs. Jung in the full interview video attached.

Here are some interview highlights.

Was He Disappointed in How The Global Warriors Event Went Down?

"It was kinda a crappy situation you know, it was something that we could give back to the coach, you know, and get to fight in our hometown, so that's kinda the big miss."

"But with preparation and training I just haven't stopped. Keep training, keep working and keep improving, so going into this next fight there is no difference. I'm ready to go."

On his opponent Randy Turner

"He fights out of WAMMA in Ottawa, and it's a Renzo Gracie school, so I'm very familiar with the school and a few of its fighters. I've been able to watch a few of Randy's fights. I can't say he is a jiu jitsu guy or a stand up guy, all I know is he has had a few fights he's a tough guy and he's gonna bring it all."

"If I was to say there is a hole in his game it's wrestling, and I hope he is working on it because any aspect of that game I am going to exploit it."

"That doesn't mean I can't throw heavy fists. People always say wrestlers get submitted on the ground, but I can assure you that I'm not just a wrestler on the ground."
