BCS Bowl Predictions: Oregon Will Take out Frustrations in Rose Bowl
No. 9 Oregon may be 10-2, but it's nonetheless been a frustrating season for the Ducks.
After losing a heartbreaker against No. 1 LSU in the first game of the season, the Ducks stormed back with a vengeance, winning their next nine games.
But then they lost to USC, 38-35, when Alejandro Maldonado's 37-yard field goal attempt swung wide left with a chance to send the game into overtime.
For a team that went to the BCS Championship Game last season and had another chance to make a repeat trip this season, even after the loss to LSU, there's definitely room for disappointment in Eugene.
That's why when they win the Pac-12 championship and face inevitable Big Ten champ Wisconsin, you can bet they will have something left to prove.
The Ducks, of course, have one of the most explosive offenses in college football, averaging 45.9 points per game this season (third in the FBS). Led by quarterback Darron Thomas, running back LaMichael James and a whole lot of depth, this team has a way of putting points on the board in a hurry.
There's also the defense, which hasn't been half bad, either. Allowing 23.0 points per game this season, the Ducks are the only team to give Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck significant trouble, forcing him into two interceptions on Nov. 12.
The truth is, while the Ducks don't deserve to make the title game after their loss to USC, plenty of people wouldn't mind if they matched up against LSU or Alabama because it would truly be a test for the two best defenses in college football.
Obviously, Wisconsin is no slouch, either, led by quarterback Russell Wilson and running back Montee Ball, but the Badgers also haven't faced an offense of Oregon's caliber. Oregon scored 27 points against LSU, which is impressive considering LSU is allowing just 8.8 points per game this season.
Expect the Oregon Ducks to blow through whoever stands in their way for the rest of the season.
