BCS Rankings: Andrew Luck and Stanford Cardinal Getting Raw Deal
The Stanford Cardinal and Oklahoma State Cowboys both have one loss.
The Cardinal lost to then-No. 7 Oregon and Oklahoma State lost to unranked Iowa State.
Can somebody tell me why Oklahoma State is ranked ahead of Stanford then?
In the latest BCS rankings, Andrew Luck's Cardinal are still being disrespected, and it's starting to become a joke.
This is not the first time this has happened to a Pac-12 team this season. Arkansas was ranked ahead of Oregon in Week 10. At that point, both had one loss, but Oregon had lost to No. 1 LSU and Arkansas had lost to then-No. 3 Alabama. Plus, Arkansas had just won by a combined nine points against Ole Miss and Vanderbilt.
I believe there's no question that LSU and Alabama are the top two teams in college football, but the No. 3 spot should have definitely gone to Stanford, especially given the Cardinal have Luck on their side (not literally).
And it's not just the BCS rankings that don't give Stanford respect. The AP poll and USA Today poll also had Stanford at No. 4. The USA Today poll even had Virginia Tech at No. 3.
Ironically, the ESPNU fan rankings actually had it right, giving Stanford the No. 3 spot behind LSU and Alabama.
It's becoming more and more clear that these rankings are a joke every year. I can understand when it's debatable between two teams, but, based on what Stanford, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech have done, who they've beaten and who they've lost to, there should be no debating Stanford in the No. 3 spot.
You would think having someone like Luck on your side would inevitably boost you in the nation's eyes, but it only highlights the bias that is clearly present.
