Cardinals vs. Rams: 5 Adjustments St. Louis Must Make in the 2nd Half

Aliko CarterNov 27, 2011

Sam Bradford and the Rams are trying to infuse some much-needed momentum into what has been a lackluster season so far. If they can feed on some of their division's poorer opponents, they may be able to take that confidence into 2012. Here are five adjustments the Rams must make to pound the Cardinals in the second half:

1. Pressure John Skelton

Skelton looked pretty horrible last week vs. the Niners. If the Rams secondary can pressure him into more mistakes, they can take a lot of pressure off Bradford and the rest of the St. Louis offense. They've already shown they are capable of this, as Skelton has already been picked off once.

2. Stop Beanie Wells

Beanie Wells already has more than 100 yards in the first half. The Rams defense needs to put him on lockdown in the second half, and make sure they don't allow another 71-yard run.

3. More Bradford Pass Attempts

The Rams offense has been relying on Steven Jackson fairly heavily. And while Jackson has been producing according to the number of carries he's being given, Sam Bradford has only made a handful of pass attempts.

4. No More Fumbles

When the Rams were showing some really good momentum in the first quarter, after just pulling off a punt return TD and picking off Skelton in Cards territory, Sam Bradford was sacked and lost a fumble. If he feels pressure coming from the Arizona secondary, he's got to have the awareness to take care of the ball.

5. Sacks

This goes hand-in-hand with the fumbles. Bradford never would have lost the ball had his offensive line done a better job of protecting him. The overall play of the Rams' o-line has to pick up if the offense is going to run more smoothly in the second half.
