Tim Tebow: John Elway Is Right to Not Commit to Their FB Playing QB
John Elway would have to be out of his Hall of Fame mind to commit to Tim Tebow as the future of the Denver Broncos.
To Elway's credit, he is not doing that. The Broncos' football Czar was asked on his weekly radio show on 102.3 FM The Ticket in Denver if he was "any closer to feeling if you have your quarterback on this team?"
Elway plainly replied, "No."

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
His response comes as the Broncos have won four of their last five games. Their current streak coincided with Tebow taking over as the starter.
That is an impressive turnaround for a team that started 1-4. So what is Elway's hangup?
Elway's Position
John Elway is in his first year in the Broncos' front office. He is charged with turning around and reshaping a floundering Denver organization. Elway has a vision for this team, and that vision does not start with a QB that struggles to throw the ball and excels in the option.
He is looking for a QB that can win the Super Bowl. Not just a QB that can provide some late comebacks in close games. In short, Elway is looking for a player that is similar to him.
That is not what he sees with Tebow. In fact, this tweet likely isn't that far from the truth.
Tebow's Stats
Tebow clearly is not a QB that is going to excel in the passing game. Take a look at his stats below from his recent stint as the Broncos starter.
Tebow has yet to hit for a 50 completion percentage in any start this year.
Real Reason for Broncos' Success
While Tebow is garnering all of the attention, it is the Broncos defense that is the real root of their recent success.
The Broncos have only scored more than 18 points in one of Tebow's starts this year.
During that span, Denver's defense has held their opponents to 15 or fewer points in three of five games.
This defense is good and getting better. They have been solid all year in rush defense. They are eighth in the league in yards allowed per rush.
It is on pass defense where this team has made the biggest turnaround.
The Broncos are 23rd in yards allowed per pass attempt this season. However, over the last three games they have allowed 6.2 yards per pass.
That number would have them ranked eighth in the league if it was for the whole season.
Conclusion
Tebow is not the future of the Broncos. While his completion percentage and his throwing may improve with time, he will never be an efficient, over 60 percent passer. That is too big a gain to expect from any player.
An erratic throwing QB and a one-dimensional offense is not a recipe for success in the NFL.
There is also the concern that Tebow's running style will take a quick and painful toll on his body. He is a bruising fullback playing the quarterback position. Bruising fullbacks take a ton of punishment.
This will invariably lead to injuries, and it will never lead to big offensive numbers. Without a reliable quarterback, an offense can never be dominant.
This team is struggling to score points with their run heavy offense, and they won't be able to win big games with defense alone.
All of this means that Elway is going to, and should, keep searching for his QB of the future—a QB that can throw the ball at an NFL level.
