Arkansas vs. LSU: A Loss Should Not Rule Tigers out of National Title Game
Arkansas and LSU will meet up in what should be a thriller of a game Friday as the Tigers attempt to finish both undefeated and No. 1 in the nation.
Yet, with the No. 3 Razorbacks on a roll and on their way up the rankings in a hurry, it will be the Tigers that will likely sit at 11-1 on the season when it's all said and done.
The Razorbacks come into this game red-hot and on a mission. They have won seven consecutive games, including wins over No. 14 Texas A&M and No. 15 Auburn in back-to-back weeks. Not to mention, these Razorbacks took down the No. 9 South Carolina Gamecocks just three weeks ago in dominating fashion when they won by a score of 44-28.
This is a team that boasts as explosive an offense as there is in college football. They rank No. 10 in passing yards and No. 13 in points per game in the nation. Quarterback Tyler Wilson has been leading an offense that is on the rise as of late, scoring over 40 points in three games in a row.
In a game that will undoubtedly go down to the wire between LSU and Arkansas, the Razorbacks will prove they are a team that is worthy of national title recognition and stun the nation with a victory on Friday.
That being said, a Tigers loss does not by any means suggest this is not the No. 1 team in the nation.
Make no mistake about it, the LSU Tigers have proven they are the best team in the nation. The Tigers have taken down six ranked opponents this season, beating No. 3 Oregon, No. 25 Mississippi State, No. 16 West Virginia, No. 17 Florida, No. 20 Auburn and No. 2 Alabama.
There is, without question, no team in the nation that stacks a resume quite like this Tigers team.
It is also important to mention the fact that this is a defense that is easily among the top three in the nation, and has been throughout the season. Allowing just over 307 yards per game (ranked No. 12 in yards allowed) and just 10 points per game, this defense puts together solid performances for four quarters of play.
With such a proven defense and strong victories all year, a big game from the Razorbacks should not count this LSU Tigers team out of national title contention. It would be an injustice to such a complete and proven team as the Tigers are.
